SleepRight Standard Select Low Profile Night Guard

SleepRight Standard Select Low Profile Night Guard, MintHaving never worn a night guard before, I was very happy that I ordered the low profile one. I have a small mouth and the adjustable sides enabled me to fit it just right. The tiny strip that fits across the lower bottom teeth holds it right in place when positioned according to the directions. I was afraid that it would keep me awake at night, but once I figured out the correct settings and placement, it was like wearing contacts; you don't really notice it if you don't think about it. It does seem to work better for me if I lie on my back and not on my side. The one thing that I didn't understand when I ordered it, was that this product is not made to bite down on, but to separate your teeth so that it re-trains your muscles to hold your jaw in the correct positon while you're sleeping so that you don't feel the need to clench at all. Surprisingly, I only have to wear it a once or twice a month. I have been clenching my teeth ever since I had my braces removed as a teenager. Over the years my subconcious clenching has caused stress cracks in my molars and migraine headaches. Wish I had gotten this 25 years ago.

I've been using this night guard for several years. I buy at least two at a time. The "mint" is ridiculous and lasts for one night but don't let this silly feature affect your decision.

I've been grinding for many years and I've worn a number of night guards, both hard and soft. This is the most comfortable and unobtrusive. I have never "rejected" it (spit it out) during the night as I have other guards. You know you're in trouble when you wake up without your guard, and find it under the bed!

It is soft and comfortable, the low profile is much more comfortable than the regular Splintek. I'm a woman, normal arch. I'd say that the regular Splintek is more suited to a man or a pretty big woman.

I agree with a previous reviewer that the pads could be replaceable, but at these prices I'm not sure it's necessary.

Before I began using this guard I suffered several chipped teeth during the nights. I had problems with TMJ and headaches in the morning. If you grind ("brux") it's so important to get a comfortable guard. If you can't stop the grinding, at least minimize the damage.

I'm comfortable at night, the Splintek handles the grinding, it's available without consulting a dentist, and the price is right. (Used to be about $60.)

Highest recommendation!!

This is the first mouth guard I have ever owned. I selected the low profile instead of the regular one thinking it would be less bulky in mouth and therefore more comfortable. I was wrong. I tried the regular one after and it fit me more confortable. The only difference I noticed between the regular and low profile is that the regular one has higher walls on the side to keep the guard from caving into your mouth. Only consider buying the low profile if you have a very small mouth.

I really like this night guard. The ones I have gotten from the dentist were thick and bulky. When I would wear them I could not sleep because they were uncomfortable. But this night guard is very flexible and comfortable and I am having no trouble sleeping with it in my mouth. It forces me to sleep with my teeth apart. If you are very active in your sleep (move around alot) or if your tongue pushes alot on your teeth I could see that it could be hard to keep this in your mouth all night as it is not very restrictive. But that is exactly what I like about it and it stays in my mouth all night. I would highly recommend this product if typical night guards have not worked for you.

I have used other products to stop or lessen the grinding I do in my sleep and this is by far the best ever!!!!! I even had one from my dentist ($125.00) and in several months I had bitten right through it rendering it useless. The cost is well worth the product you get. I have recently bought a new one because I grind my teeth so bad that in about a year and a half I had bitten through the pads. I will continue to use this product until I can find a way to STOP THE GRINDING!!! My only wish is that the company make replaceable bite pads for the device that the user could put in when necessary to replace them when they have been bitten through!SleepRight Adjustable Low-Profile Night Guard The cost could be reduced a bit if they did this.
