Philips goLITE BLU Light Therapy Device

Philips goLITE BLU Light Therapy DeviceThe manual that comes with the goLITE states that it could help alleviate the so-called winter blues depressions, help with jet lag and allow shift workers better adjust to their unusual schedules. The theory claims that exposure to bright blue light tricks our body into producing producing certain hormones that make us feel more alert and energetic and inhibits the production of hormones that make us sleepy. Some people who feel depressed and exhausted in winter time because there's not much bright light may respond favorably to light therapy. goLITE is a light therapy device.

The light:

----------

It's really, really bright. For those familiar with LED flashlights, think of it this way: a decent LED flashlight device has about 3 LEDs. The goLITE has SIXTY. Therefore, think of TWENTY flashlights bright, when used at maximum intensity. That IS bright. It's so bright, you are not supposed to stare at it directly. I did and my eyes hurt for about half an hour after that. Thankfully, the intensity is adjustable in increments of 25% with the 50% setting being recommended for starters.

The therapy:

------------

The manual recommends 15-30 minute sessions with the light bathing your face from the side, at about eye level. The light therapists believe that the best times to use it are in the morning but, for those who, like me, feel sleepy in the afternoon, an afternoon session could also be beneficial. I normally use it early in the morning, with my breakfast and every time I exercise, which is the evening-afternoon.

The controls:

-------------

A touch LCD panel allows the user to set the clock, the timer, the alarm and the light intensity. The most needed functions: the timer and the light adjuster are easy to set. For the others, you may need a manual to remind you that, for example, if you really, really want to switch between the 12-hour to the 24-hour time format you must press and hold both the TIMER and the MINUS buttons for 2 seconds. So, don't lose the manual.

The build:

----------

The goLITE has a definite durable, solid, 'high end' feeling. A protective case/sleeve is included. There is also a charger. A small metallic 'stand' is held magnetically inside its own depression in the back of the body. The small manual is informative and only 20-30% of it is regulation-mandated nonsense or technical mumbo-jumbo graphs. The rechargeable battery can not be replaced. The manufacturer expects the goLITE to last for about 50 years if used for 30 minutes per day, every day. A fully charged device should be able to run on battery for at least 3-4 sessions.

The ergonomics:

---------------

I appreciate the small size because I am taking it with me to office. It fits easily inside my laptop bag. The carrying case is well made. My only problem and this is where goLITE is losing one star is the placement of the controls on the same side with the lights. Like I said, staring directly at the lights is not pleasant and, the way the controls work, accidentally touching the PLUS button WILL turn the light on. It would be A LOT better if the LCD panel was located on the back. It might have even allowed for a smaller device.

The effectiveness:

------------------

I can now testify that, after more than three months through a long winter I feel happier and more optimistic now than at the same time a year ago. Normally by early March I have that feel of exhaustion and the 'will this winter ever go away?' type of thoughts. Not this year. I do wish for the winter to go away but I seem to feel more energized and less negative.

The battery life:

-----------------

The manual claims that you could use the goLITE for about 4 sessions on one charge. I am pleased to note that, after 3-4 months of use I can use it for 6-8 sessions on one charge. They are 20 minute sessions with the light at 100% intensity.

The rating:

-----------

I appreciate the quality of the build, the brightness of the light and the fact that I can do several therapy sessions before having to recharge. This is a good light therapy device.

The very small negatives are all related to the LCD control panel. Certain functions can not be intuitively invoked and, once the manual is lost, may give the end-user some headaches. The other small negative is the placement of the LCD control panel. Think of it this way: you would not like a gun that was build in a way that forced you to stare at the barrel while loading it, right? Similarly, it would be a lot better if you didn't have to stare at sixty LED that could turn themselves on at any time while you are struggling with setting up the timer. However, once the goLITE is set up, I rarely change the setting so this is a very rare inconvenience.

So after reading these reviews on Amazon.com, I was initially VERY skeptical about this product working. Most of these reviews come from people in the Vine program or the reviews were being released rapidly over a short time period and that had me very doubtful. But before I go into that, let me give you a little background on my personal story. I am 21 years old, Asian-American (maybe I'm not adjusted for the long winters in Vermont and I've been having sleep problems since the age of 17 or 18.

For years, I would sleep in and miss classes, and would generally feel chronically fatigued and apathetic. My problem got pretty bad to the point that I would miss important meetings or events. I was focused, and hardworking but I just could not wake up on time (and go to bed on time either)! I would go to bed at say 11 PM, yet I would still wake up at 12 PM or 1 PM the next day. I would be like what the hell. So then over this winter break (where I had a good 5 weeks off), I started letting myself go to bed at the time my body NATURALLY fell asleep (not when I *wanted* to). I found that I was going to bed at 3 AM. And what happened? I STILL woke up at 11 AM!!!! What did this show me? That I WAS getting 8 hours of sleep BUT it was at a later time (hence going to bed at 11 PM didn't do anything because I really wasn't falling asleep until 3-4 AM in the morning).

So why did this happen? Why did my sleep schedule get delayed (this problem is called DSPS or delayed sleep phase syndrome --it's nothing serious it's just a big pain when trying to function in society --my primary care physician referred me to a sleep MD who diagnosed me with this as well.)? Well in high school I had bad habits. I would go to bed late playing VIDEO GAMES, watching TV, doing intellectually stimulating activities that would make me stay up late. Also the summer before college started, I had a job where I was working as a waiter at night (4 PM-10 PM) or (6 PM-1 AM), and thus I was sleeping later. I guess all of this carried through college and in grad. school (modern day society makes it difficult to live a natural technological-independent state huh?)

Anyways, before I digress any further, this winter break, I let my body go to bed when it wanted too. But then something bad happened. I was going to bed later and later every day (going to bed at 8 AM!!!). And thus, I would end up sleeping my 8 hours during the DAY!!! It was terrible. So I looked into chronotherapy, and I did something where I would go to bed a little bit later every day (so instead of going to bed at 8 am the next day, I would go to bed at 11 am, then 2 PM, then 5 PM, then eventually 8 PM), and let me assure you it wasn't fun.

So my doctor recommended me this product which piqued my interest and I eventually found this product here on Amazon (Apollo was the company that makes these products, but Philips bought them over). Immediately after a few sessions, I found that I was waking up at 5-6 AM NATURALLY and going to bed at 9-10 PM PHYSICALLY/EYELID HEAVY SLEEPY. I also felt happier too and the reason why this happens is that the blue light increases the production of SERATONIN (the happy go-lucky hormone that is low in depression, etc).

I'm a grad. student in Biology, and I'll briefly go into the details of the basic physiology of blue light. Basically, your eye's retina (a thin membrane at the back of the eye-ball) has a couple of receptors. The ones you've probably heard of were the rod and cones. Well, there's another one called the "MELANOPSIN" photoreceptor that scientists about 10 years ago discovered. And these are on the edges of the retina (not centric like the rods and cones). These melanopsin photoreceptors absorb light of a specific wavelength and that is BLUE (460-480 nm). Older light boxes used white light (which contained blue light) that mimicked light from the sun, but apparently those are superbright. So why can't you use a regular old BLUE lightBULB then? I don't really know maybe someone can comment on this as I'm not a physicist.

Other notes: This thing is expensive, so if you want something a BIT cheaper you can go with the slightly older Philips/Apollo units some of them are as low as $80.P You might be able to make a deduction on this unit with your health insurance or through your taxes, just a heads up, but I'm not 100% as of yet.

If you have problems waking up on time, have chronic fatigue, depression, SAD, ciracadian rhythm disorders, then this is worth a shot. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but after doing some experiments, I don't believe that this was a placebo affect. N=1 though, so take what I say and everything on Amazon.com with a grain of salt.

i've been battling sleep issues for many years.

here are my issues...i would get into bed around 11pm and would just lay there tossing and turning. i just could not fall asleep. sometimes i would look at the clock and it's 3am...sometimes 4am. then i would fall asleep and then have my alarm set to 730am b/c i had to go to work. most days i would snooze every 10 mins from 730 to 830 just to sneak in a little more sleep.

it was terrible. i was tired all day long. and the lack of sleep really effected me both physically and mentally.

on weekends...i would fall asleep at 4am or so and then would be able to sleep until 11am or noon. but then the bad cycle started again sunday night as i had work monday morning.

i self diagnosed myself with having DSPS (delayed sleep phase syndrome) where my internal clock was all shifted up about 5 or 6 hours.

i have been suffering with this for so many years. i tried warm milk. i tried soothing music. i even tried lunesta/ambien for a few days with no help.

then i found this item on the internet.

the first day, saturday, i set the alarm for 930am. woke up and sat with the light for 30 mins. sunday, i set the alarm to 830am and sat with the light for another 30 mins. monday, i set it for 730am and sat with it again.

by the end of the week, i was falling asleep within minutes of hitting the bed at 11pm. i was naturally waking up even 10 mins before the alarm would go on.

i could not believe what was going on. after 5 days with this little piece of machinery, my sleep issues have been fixed.

i'm now 3 weeks into it waking up every day at 615am after falling asleep at 11. that's 7+ hours of sleep. i still can't believe it. i do sometimes wake up in the middle of the night after an intense dream but fall back asleep within minutes.

i now only use this about 15 mins in the morning and my days are now normal. i have a ton of energy in the morning and am falling asleep when i need to.

i am not a morning person. i don't think you understand just how badly i suffered trying to get up every day. and this thing fixed it. heck, i woke up today at 6am and worked out for an hour before coming into work.

highly recommended!!!

Wow! That's too good to be true. If the effects will continue I'll call it life changing!

Many people feel a little less energetic in the winter, while others get the winter blues. It has been shown that the decrease in natural sunlight may be the culprit in this seasonal change on our bodies. In fact, it has a name Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD).

The Philips goLITE BLU light is designed to help sufferers of SAD by mimicking the effect that the sun has on your body.

A few pointers tips about the light (Many were not included in my video)-

It uses all LEDs therefore it is very unlikely that any of the "bulbs" will burn out.

LEDs generate much less heat than other forms of light, so there is a very low risk of fire.

You must (on occasion) look into periphery of the light. The effect of the light works through your EYES and not your skin, therefore you must glance directly into the light (about once a minute for me).

The unit MUST be charged for 8 eight hour prior to the initial use.

There is no access into the unit meaning there are no screws or bolts that can be used to access the light, batteries...etc.

Surprisingly small probably measures 8"x8"x1" and weighs less than 2lbs.

Has a built in alarm feature.

Do not use two hours before you go to bed, since your hormonal response to the light may keep you from sleeping.

Built in timer lets you preset how long you want the light to operate (up to 1 hour)

Final verdict the Philips goLITE BLU is well designed and has loads of built in functionality. While it is not it not inexpensive it may very well hold the key to helping you feel more energetic in the winter months.

4 1/2 stars.

BodySport Cervical Jackson Roll Pillow, 17" x 7", White, Firm Support - Each

BodySport Cervical Jackson Roll Pillow, 17' x 7', White, Firm Support - EachThis pillow has been very comfortable to use as a knee pillow for sleeping. It provides just the right balance between lift and softness. It's fairly pricey for a small pillow so, for the price, I feel it should at least include a simple white case.

I needed a neck pillow to support my neck while sleeping on my back and like a extra pillow for neck head while sleeping on my side it's way to small to do that and hard as a rock and extremely cheap feeling! For 18 dollars I overpaid big time!

This pillow actually measured 15-in x 5-1/4-in, which is substantially smaller than 17 x 7. It was a super lightweight foam, and felt very airy and cheap.

CPAPmax Pillow Case

CPAPmax Pillow CaseThis is supposed to be a contoured pillow case for a specific pillow. Form fitting it is not. Fabric is ok

I love this pillowcase and would recommend it for those who have the CPAPmax contour pillow. It provides good protection for the pillow cover. The material is high quality, durable, and comfortable feeling on the head and face. It has also withstood multiple machine washings and dryings very well and without shrinkage (I use a low dryer setting). The pillow case also fits nice and snuggly on the pillow so there is no extra material on the surface where my head and face are. This means that I don't have any marks on my face from the pillow.

Buy CPAPmax Pillow Case Now

The pillow is too stiff, even after several washings, canceling the softness of the CPAPMax pillow. Also, the buttons are difficult to put through the button holes on the back because of the thickness of the pillow. Wonder how long before the buttons would have to be resown before the threads gave way. A waste of money!

Snoring Aid Comfort Bed Wedge System. A Patented Adjustable Inclination COMFORT+ C+ product. 39" wid

Snoring Aid Comfort Bed Wedge System. A Patented Adjustable Inclination COMFORT+ C+ product. 39' wide, 30' deep bed wedge system that inclines to 45 degrees. An Amazon.com exclusive ProductI used this inflateable bed after shoulder surgery. I was able to position it at a variety of angles to get comfortable. I used a pillow to support my lower back where my bed and the inflateable met. I also put pillows under my knees. That helps with compfort and helps prevent sliding down the bed.

This worked very well for me. It is much more comfortable than sleeping in a recliner and a lot better deal than renting a hospital bed or buying an adjustable bed.

This bed wedge is one of the most useful products that a snoring couple can possibly buy. I loved how it made it possible to share a bed with my boyfriend, and I love the fact that he was totally comfortable. No more nose strips for us! Very recommended!

Moist Heating Pad Digital Electric 14"x27"

Moist Heating Pad Digital Electric 14'x27'This is a heating pad for the long term. It heats to a specific temperature you set which is very nice, so much better than the four settings on most heating pads. You also can set it for a specific amount of time up to 60 minutes which beats the pads that make you hold a button down to keep it on. There is a quiet yet audible tone to let you know you set it and that it is turning off. It allows you to reset it for another 60 minute cycle immediately if you hear the tone which is a nice way to prevent you from harming yourself without being too big brother-ish or waking you up. The moist heat somehow gathers atmospheric moisture so it does not work the best if your in a low humidity situation or if you are laying on the thing. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Overall, I love this heating pad. My only complaints are about the controller, but the heating pad itself is very nice. I like that the temperature is variable and that if I really want it to be hot, it is. The pad heats up quickly.

My biggest complaint is that the controller doesn't have a light on it. It's hard to read the display in dim light. If I'm lying in bed in the darkness and just want to adjust the temperature, I don't want to have to get up, get out of bed, and walk over to the light switch just to do it. Generally, I grab my cell phone which is on the night stand and do my best to use it like a flash light, but the controller is still hard to read by that dim light.

The controller has a timer, and you can only have the heat on for 60 minutes, maximum. After that, it shuts off. I understand that safety feature. Sometimes, I like to just keep the heating pad on my lower back or on my shoulders while I watch TV or work on the computer in the evening and I would prefer it to be on for longer than 60 minutes. It's slightly annoying to have to reset it. If you turn it off, it remembers how much time was left. And it remembers the temperature setting, too. When you turn it back on, it sets it to the same temperature and gives you the remaining minutes. If you want to change either, you can, at that point. I generally like to keep it in the same temperature range, so that's fine. I would prefer that instead of giving me the remaining minutes, it would reset to 60.

This was definitely worth the money to me. Mainly because it can get up to a very high heat.

I am so happy I purchased this heating pad. It works great. I am only sorry I didn't look for this sooner. I have used several of the cheap ones sold in the local drugstores which were ok but always died after a 3-6 months. I looked for one on Amazon and saw the reviews for this one and finally gave it a try and am I glad I did. The size is great and I can adjust the temp (which can get nice and hot for my muscles), and the length of time I want. I use this EVERY day!!!! It also arrived quickly. After using an old-school heating pad, this is like walking on the moon. It magically provides moist heat that gets plenty hot deep down into muscle tissue, with adjustible temperature and time controls. The other reviews are spot on with their complaints: 1) It would be great if the control had backlighting of some sort, because it's very difficult to see the settings without having to interfere with your rest by putting some light on it to set the temperature or time or to turn it (back) on or off; and 2) the loud beep it makes when cutting off is rather annoying, since if you're using a heating pad in the first place, you're probably sore, achy and in need of rest, so to have it sound an alarm when it cuts off can awaken you and/or anyone else in the bed, but we've found that muffling it is possible by gently placing the control beneath a pillow, throw or stuffed animal. Despite those two wished-for changes, this heating pad is worth every penny. In fact, we ended up getting two so that hubby and I both have one at the same time, without having to swap one back and forth when, for instance, we're both in need after physical therapy, exercise or injury. We love it and highly recommend it.

Want Moist Heating Pad Digital Electric 14"x27" Discount?

I was looking for a good heating pad for my back and liked several functions this one offers, digital, moist heat and a large size as I am a large person. What I wasn't expecting was the heaviness of the pad. The instructions say not to lie on the pad, but to be honest it is difficult to lie on my stomach for any great length of time, and then it was hard to keep the pad from slipping. So, the heck with it, I laid on my back on the pad and it was great. Quick heat up time, great control functions. But it is large so expect it to take up some storage room.

DM 9-1 - Hand Made 100% Jujube Date Wood Comb - Pocket size 4 In - All Natural High Quality

DM 9-1 - Hand Made 100% Jujube Date Wood Comb - Pocket size 4 In - All Natural High QualityI guess I didn't read the description closely enough it says right there that it's a 4" pocket size, but I was surprised how small it was when I received it. Nonetheless it is an excellent comb. Very well made, extremely smooth to the touch everywhere. This comb combed through my wet hair after a shower with a lot less trouble than my old plastic comb had done and the rounded ends of the teeth felt good against my scalp. Again, the wood is so smooth, there is no chance of catching hair. Very nice comb.

I bought this comb when my wooden Body Shop comb splintered after 10 years of use. I wanted to buy the exact same comb, but couldn't find it so I tried this one instead. I love it! It's small, as the previous reviewer said, but very well made. It's smooth all over, fits the contours of my hand and head very well, and is a better comb than my old Body Shop one. The size is fine for my medium-length hair, and I use this to comb out my wet hair after a shower.

Basic Comfort Handy's Plus Pad

Summer Infant, Ultimate Training Pad - Twin MattressI absolutely LOVE the Handy's Plus Pad. I purchased 5 of the full-size pads for my son over a year and a half ago and I think they are GREAT. My 4-year old has slept in a full-size bed since he turned 2. These pads really work (no leaks!), are comfortable and wash-up well. I only have 2 complaints ... 1. the side-flaps aren't quite long enough to fully tuck under if you have a pillow-top mattress (although you can make it work if one side of the bed is against the wall and you pull the opposite side really tight) AND 2. the top and bottom of the pad tend to "curl up" after several washings. Despite these complaints, I have not been able to find a pad that is even near the quality and comfort of this one. The reason that I own 5 of these is that, if you truly want "full" coverage on the bed for a child that rolls all over while sleeping, you need to use 2 with some slight overlap (so, 2 to use and 2 for back-up). I also use one (full-size) on the Spinmaster Flip-Open Sofa to keep spills and accidents from staining the sofa. The full-size fully covers the full-length of the sofa. I think this is a "must have" product for parents of toddlers that don't want to be constantly changing bed sheets or trying to "wash" a children's sofa that really isn't meant to be washed.

(fyi ... If you like Basic Comfort's Ultimate Crib Sheet, then you'll also like their Handy's Plus Pad. The Handy's Plus Pad is basically the Ultimate Crib Sheet with side flaps and without the snaps. In fact, the pad portion of the Handy's Plus Pad Full size is almost the same size as the Ultimate Crib Sheet.)

This pad has performed as expected and the extra length on the sides makes it easier to tuck under the mattress to keep it from moving. However, the photo gives the impression of covering more of the bed than it truly does. Take the measurements seriously don't rely on the photo. I needed to play with it to see where on the bed it would be the most effective.

I bought the Handy's Plus Pad because, while our son has been potty trained for nearly a year, he sleeps so soundly that he doesn't wake up all the time to go pee at night, and I've had it with changing the bed sheets everyother night! This pad is a great item, it's soft on the top so my son doesnt mind sleeping on it and it really works keeping the sheets dry. My son sleeps all over the place and it's plenty wide enough to give the coverage we need. And it's never leaked through. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it's tough to tuck the far side in when you have the bed up against the wall like we do. I'm not sure how they could make this better, but they should work on figuring out a way. ;) I only wish I'd gotten 2!!

This product is great if you have a child that still wets at night. The overnight diapers don't always contain everything and I would be washing sheets and mattress pads several times per week. With this cover (I purchased 2) we just change the waterproof pad and then I wash both when both are soiled. It cuts way down on the laundry!

One suggestion, the picture for the twin size pad is likely of the pad on a crib mattress. Pay attention to the measurements that are provided. It is not that large on a regular twin size mattress. I actually purchased 2 of the full size, which in my opinion was the perfect size for my son's twin size mattress, and only a few $ more.

Want Basic Comfort Handy's Plus Pad Discount?

I am not happy with this product at all. It is much too small. Of the 4 times my daughter has peed the bed with this on, three times she's "missed". Also, I ended up having to put in under the fitted sheet because it got bunched up so much when she was sleeping. Kinda defeats the purpose of just being able to pull it off quickly in the middle of the night. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because when she did pee on the pad, it didn't leak through. If you want something to pull right off, then get two and put them both on the bed.

Humidification Chamber For Hc220 Series

Humidification Chamber For Hc220 SeriesI bought this to replace the water chamber on my cpap. It is the exact same product that the medical supply place charges $100.00 for. It's the exact same thing from the same manufacturer without the 75% markup!!!! It is brand new and clean. Even with insurance this is STILL CHEAPER than buying through my medical plan.

As with the previous reviewer, I too, found that the price online beat the jacked up price (a lot) that my insurance led me to. I called those folks that originally provided the CPAP and they couldn't find a record of what I had with me knowing the model and product number. So,....I said I would go look. And I did, then went online and I didn't call them back.

The sellers of these online items need to make their reviews process simplar. I had a difficult time leaveing them a good review.

Liquicell Sleep Pad Mattress Topper/Overlay

Liquicell Sleep Pad Mattress Topper/OverlayI have been using the Liquicell sleep pad on my bed for a few days. I like the fact that it is very thin. I just put it under my fitted sheet. I felt immediate relief of pressure under my hips. I also noticed I woke up the next morning with less aches and pain. One of my friend who is a nurse told me about LiquiCell being used in Hospital beds to prevent sores on patients who cannot move. Good Product. Liquicell Sleep Pad Mattress Topper/Overlay

Sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress every night for hours on end I found it to be extremely difficult to sleep through out the night. I have tried other sleeping aids such as memory foam etc and nothing was working. I saw the LiquiCell Sleep Pad and thought lets give it a try.

After sleep on it the first night the pressure on my back was relieved. No pain from sleeping at all, and it's design is perfect for my bed. The Sleep Pad is well worth the purchase, i can now say I sleep like a baby.

Mendapause 12 Ingredient Menopause Supplement for Hot Flashes, Night Sweats, and Mood Swings

Mendapause 12 Ingredient Menopause Supplement for Hot Flashes, Night Sweats, and Mood SwingsI WAS using Black Cohash (Remifemin) successfully, but it stopped working after 5-6 months. After trying Vitamin B-complex, then 2 T flax seed daily, I came upon Mendapause. The hot flashes stopped after 4-5 days on the product, and the staying awake for hours in the middle of the night stopped too. I imagine it will build up in my system like the Black Cohash, but when it does, I'll just stop taking it for a week or so. I'm trying to avoid HRT as long as possible. And my DO liked the fact that its based on soy, among other things. So yes, give it a try.

I wanted a product that was made of herbs to help me with the symptoms of menopause. I gained weight, my sex drive was in park, I was moody, and although my hot flashes had decreased over the past year...they were still there. I was reading reveiws of products and was not hearing good things. I happened upon Mendapause while looking for another product. After reading the herbs and research those herbs, with high hopes, I chose Mendapause. As we all know, it takes a few weeks for things to get into our system, but around the 2nd to 3rd week my sex drive came back. I am slowly losing weight and I feel much better. I am now on my second bottle and will keep this as a regular supplement in my daily routine.

For 2 solid months, I was getting hot flashes and night sweats so bad that they would all of a sudden come over me every one to two hours, 24/7. It was horrible! My OBGYN told me I was in perimenopause. (I'm 46 yrs old) All I can say is that I was dead-set against taking any kind of hormone therapy because of my family history of cancer. I began to research natural supplements to help with the hot flashes, but to no avail. I tried I-Cool and Estroven, but neither one made any difference. I heard about Mendapause, and once more decided to give it a go well, after a couple of weeks, my hot flashes and night sweats completely stopped! This was the only product that worked. Honestly, I just can't imagine going through life for the next 5-10 years feeling as awful as I did until I discovered Mendapause. You have to have some patience, because this is a natural supplement so you need to give it some time to get into your system before you can feel a difference. I am really glad I stuck it out and kept taking it! I know I sound like a walking billboard, but I finally got my life back! My heart goes out to all the women out there who are suffering from Menopause.

I usually don't write reviews, but I had to for this product. I am 49 years old. Back in December I was diagnosed as having large uterine fibroid tumors that were causing me problems. But my periods were still regular, like clockwork. No symptoms of menopause whatsoever at that time. But I was having other symptoms relating to the fibroids. One of the things my gynecologist recommended was a hysterectomy because of my age. But I really didn't want to have such an invasive surgery, so my doctor told me about a procedure call UAE (Uterine Artery Embolization). I went to a doctor who specializes in this and he said I was a good candidate for it. It is a procedure that basically kills off the fibroids and makes then shrink up. Only a week downtime. Also a 85% success rate. So I opted for this procedure. About a month (maybe a little more) post-procedure and I start having menopause symptoms with a vengeance! Just wham, all of a sudden! Well, apparently, the UAE triggered menopause. This was a risk in this procedure because of my age. It was/has been so horrible. My doctor suggested hormone replacement therapy. I was hesitant about synthetic hormones and wanted to try something natural. I started researching and Mendapause came up as a top contender. I thought, what the heck, I have nothing to lose. It took about 3 weeks of taking it consistently, and all of a sudden the hot flashes started going away. I went from 10-20 hot flashes a day to maybe 1 or 2. The horrible insomnia and mood swings started abating. And now after almost a month of taking this product, almost no symptoms whatsoever! I haven't had a hot flash in a week. They don't wake me up at all hours of the night, and I'm sleeping through the night again most of the time. I was a wreck before taking this product. The mood swings and despondency was just horrible. Now I feel more like myself again. I just can't say enough about how this product has helped me!

To start with I am 40 years old and have been told there is nothing wrong with my hormones. My mom started her menopause around this time and I am now pretty sure I have too even though the doctors don't agree. I don't have night sweats but I all of a sudden last year started to have anxiety attacks and constant anxiousness. Sometimes I felt so bad I would need my husband to just hold me or put his body on me just so I would calm down enough to sleep. I have 2 little boys 5 and 8 with all that comes with it....constant activity and service! I would feel like someone was chasing me at times. The doctor told me I was just "mommied out" and that Zoloft would take the edge of and calm me down. After 3rd day of taking it I had a full blown panic attack and felt as close to dying as I have ever before! I swore I would never in my life take anything like that again and risk my sanity. It knocked me out so bad I could not function for almost 5 days. Since then anxiety have been my life. I think having anxiety causes anxiety, it's a vicious circle. My head has had the feeling of dizziness, pressure in my forehead, ringing in the ears and a feeling of not being able to deal with any confrontations, issues or problem solving. I would often cry at night and tell my husband that I don't know why but to just let me cry and I would feel relieved. When I once in a while would feel good I would wonder what the heck was wrong with me and want to take on the world. Since I later have realized those days have come and gone every now and then I would need to take advantage of them and run all my errands that day or clean the house. Now I am starting to think it must have been my hormones since I was obviously not really ill just sometimes! This problem really has bothered me and my entire family. I have tried to get more active since that seems to help temporarily. After a brisk walk I always felt much better but still not good enough. My sex drive that was low to begin with has now become non-existent.

Now for the good news.....

7 days ago I started taking Mendapause with the expectation of it taking 4-6 weeks of taking effect but just after 3-4 days I swear things changed. Since I started I have done major yard work, which I would other days been to fatigued to do. I feel like a fog has lifted from my mind...the anxiety, oh my anxiety this horrible life sucking thing I have been dealing with has been gone since about 5 days ago!!!!!!! If it is thanks to the Mendapause I don't know how to thank them enough. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because I intend to write another review in a few weeks when it has proven itself. My ringing in my ears is yet to go away but gosh I can live with that! I even have managed to make my husband a little happier a couple of times! Always a start.... I am so hopeful this will change my whole families life!

It has now been about 5 weeks and I would have to say it is still working! The anxiety is much less, although it has happened that I have worked myself up a few times. We just started a pretty big construction project on our house and normally it would completely petrify me with all the commotion but I am actually having fun with it. Still have some ringing in my ears....sex drive would leave more to be desired but at least it's better. Hope this herb will build up in my system to make all my symptoms go away but at least it has made me feel a whole lot better!

Thanks Mendapause!

Andre Sleep Wear 444 Satin Touch-on

Andre Sleep Wear 444 Satin Touch-on, Pink, One Size Fits AllWhat I like best is the adjustable velcro fastener and the fact that the top has an adjustable ring and is mesh. I've tried many other types of sleep caps and usually ended up throwing them away because they were uncomfortable for one reason or another. Best to wash by hand instead of tossing in the washer.

I have bought this sleep cap before at Sally's Beauty Supply stores. Overall I have probably owned three over a 10-year period. Recently, I have been unable to locate it in stores. When I saw this on-line as an add-on item, I purchased it to replace another one. Well it is not large enough for the velcro fastners to meet. I was surprised because it is the exact cap that I have always worn. I like the satin around the sides and the net on top can be adjusted and I do not get too hot while sleeping. My only compliant is the size, so that is why I gave a 4 star review. On a positive note it does fit on my head over my pinned hair so I am able to use it without it coming off.

I was skeptical about whether or not this would keep the curls in my hair. I roll my hair after washing it and then hope not to have to fuss with it until the next washing. This sleep cap does the trick. All I have to do in the morning is brush my hair and go.

Hearos Ultimate Softness Series Ear Plugs, 14 Count

Hearos Ultimate Softness Series Ear Plugs, 14 CountThis is the review I wrote for the 40 pairs for ~$12 Amazon.com is currently selling.

Pros

Block out most background noise

Easy to insert

Can be worn comfortably for many consecutive hours

Super soft

I use these for about 8 hours per night, for around 4 straight nights Per pair

Excellent for those who sleep on their sides These are long ear plugs, but they are easily trimmed with scissors. Thus, how much they stick in/out of your ears can be easily adjusted.

Amazon has them for cheap In stores, however, they are usually much more expensive. For example, $6 for 14 pairs, or $4 for 4 pairs. Good luck trying to find a 20 pair pack.

Even at store prices, they are worth the money.

I have been using them for over a year and a half I have had no ear pain and no ear problems However, like with all ear plugs, they can make the insides of your ears itch, sometimes. This happens infrequently.

Cons

None Use them with care and they are exceptional.

Do not block out loud high pitch sounds However, this is a con with earplugs of this type (foam) Thus, it is not a weakness of this particular brand.

I have had some trouble getting some other foam ear plugs to squeeze and roll down well enough to get them properly inserted to really stop noise. I use these at the gun range as a supplement to over ear and always keep them with me for travel on planes and hotel rooms.

I live in a house with two other people. My room is right above the kitchen. And since I'm a super-light sleeper, every noise wakes me up. These earplugs are awesome. Most other ear plugs won't work for me because I have ungodly small ear canals, but these mold to my ear, stay put, and really block some serious noise. I am a much happier person with a full night of rest. So glad I bought these!

I was previously using the orange dollar store ear plugs, but they were rigid and had a hard time staying in my ears. I am glad I gave these a try. They are soft and easily smoosh down so that you can put them in your ear, and I sleep all night without them falling out. I can still hear my alarm clock, but my parrots that get up before I do no longer wake me on the weekends!

I have very noisy upstairs neighbors so I started using these daily. I bought a pack similar to these in walgreens for the same price that amazon gives you two packs!!

One note, and the ONLY reason I don't give it a 5 star rating is because although they block out a LOT of the noise and you can sleep comfortably at night there are some out there that have a rating of blocking out 33 NRR (block out slightly more noise). These I found to be bigger and and fit more snugly in my ear (If it helps, they are blue...Walgreens sells them, but each box has less than what one of the boxes in this pair has..)

The Hearos are small and they hide inside your ear (which can be a plus depending on how you use them)--being skin colored makes them almost unnoticeable unless your up close.

I recommend these to anyone with noisy neighbors.

Drive Medical Med Aire Low Air Loss Mattress Replacement System with Alternating Pressure, Dark Purp

Drive Medical Med Aire Low Air Loss Mattress Replacement System with Alternating Pressure, Dark Purple, 8'Incredibly easy to set up. Everything comes in a single box which isn't heavy at all.

Works well.

Whatever you do, choose a mattress with "low air loss" -do not buy a mattress that ONLY offers alternating pressure!

There is good evidence from studies that "low air loss" mattresses help prevent and heal bed sores, but no good evidence for alternating pressure.

This one has both. you can disable the alternating pressure if you like)

The low air loss on this mattress is CONTINUOUS, which is a good thing!

Some other mattresses (such as several from invacare) have low air loss that is only "on demand" -you have to push a button which then only activates it for perhaps 20 minutes. I believe continuous low air loss is sure to work more effectively.

The noise is perhaps twice as loud as a big aquarium pump. I found I could eliminate much of the noise if I paid careful attention to the hose connector where it plugs into the pump, a slight gap will makes a loud hissing noise. Press it in well, or tie it if you have to, and no problem. There also are some vibrations generated that propagate through the bed frame, but aren't felt by the patient unless they lean on a rail.

If you had absolutely no other noise generating devices you still might be annoyed by it, but I'm managing to sleep fine in the same room.

What is low air loss? There are zillions of tiny holes on the mattress constantly emitting small amounts of air, which prevents and heals bed sores by keeping skin cool and dry.

In order for a low air loss mattress to effectively prevent bed sores, you need to minimize the amount of material between the patient and mattress!

That means ideally a thin cotton sheet only, or even no sheet and only underpad if there is an existing sore. I'm also using a thin disposable bed pad, and looking to buy a variety specially designed to breathe well for this purpose. Update: Am using kendall "maxiflo", specially designed for low air loss matresses -good results.

In the event of a power outage, the mattress would eventually deflate creating an uncomfortable and unsafe surface, so that's something to think about.

It'd probably be ok for a bit, but I have a foam mattress I can swap in if we get stuck with a long outage. Haven't been through it yet.

Update: I bought a yamaha 2000 backup generator converted to run on propane, enough to keep refrigerator going too.

Other recommendations for bed sore prevention: Baza Perineal Lotion after regular changes (moisture barrier). Sage "prevalon" heel protector (heel & tailbone are 2 most common bed sores)

For bed sore treatment: xenaderm ointment (prescription only). Keep pressure off, regular turns every 2 hours, cool & dry.

Low air loss is no substitute for regular turns but does really help

So far so good. Ordered this in early-August and have been very pleased with product to date. My brother (diagnosed with M/S) was recently released from hospital and was sent home with a gel pad which was absolutely miserable to lay on for an extended period or time. Sleeping was very uncomfortable and each morning he woke up with sore limbs & burning itchy buttocks. I was so nervous he would end up with a bed sore and started researching Low Air Loss Mattresses which I knew would help maintain skin integrity. Well, we're approx. 45 days into it and he's doing very well and loving his new air mattress. This particular mattress does everything it claims (so far that is). Setting go from soft to firm. Only one drawback: noise level of the pump...after placing a pillow between pump and footboard, however; pump noise was substantially reduced. Set-up was simple and I am not set-up savvy with anything. The best part was the cost. Researched several websites & Amazon was the least expensive (saving over $900 from one competitor for identical product) so that was a real bargain! (BLESS YOU, AMAZON)! For anyone looking at this mattress or similar items, give it a try. My brother's insurance did not cover this item, that's why price was so important. But again, Amazon was the absolute best price I found and he is thrilled with his new bed thus far. In other words...if he he sleeps well, my hubby & I sleep well and for the past several weeks, me & my husband have been sleeping like babies! lol So, YES, we love this mattress , too! :)

My poor, active father is now pretty much confined to an "at home" hospital bed. Though his bottom was tender, his heels developed open sores from the mattress. I tried pillow propping his ankles, a foam mattress cover-provided by Medi-Care with pillow propping and when I was turned down for any upgrades, I decided to get something for him.

This is a very durable, reliable, and constantly working air mattress. It is priced mid-range and worth every penny!

I highly recommend this bed and this seller delivered it promptly and in mint condition.

Thanks to the seller and thanks to the manufacturer of this great mattress.

My mother recently got a hospital bed for at home. The original mattress was so hard, she sheared her ankle at the bony projection while kicking around in her blankets. She still gets up and walks around, but I know her condition will continue to deteriorate until she is bed-bound, so I wanted to get a good mattress to prevent bed sores or other skin problems. What I found out was an alternating pressure air mattress is an excellent choice because, even without turning the person, the pressure in the mattress changes, which changes the body's pressure points, thus reducing the possibility of developing skin break down. I was considering a gel mattress or memory foam at first but if the person is not moved, the pressure is constant and could cause skin breakdown. I did quite a bit of research online before making this purchase, and I felt this was a great choice, at a very good price. Other places online had this identical mattress for more than a thousand dollars more than I paid here. Gotta love that!!

I was happy with this mattress, as long as I had power. We had a few storms that knocked the power out last year, one time for a week. There were a few cells that never wanted to keep air in them once the power came back on. I had to get rid of the mattress. I was very disappointed. I ended up buying a memory foam mattress that does not need power to operate.

I was very excited about this mattress because my dad is paraplegic and he really needs good support. Well, it's arrived and it was easy to install, BUT it doesn't work. Pump is not alterating but pumping non-stop. Noise is horrible and my dad is now has to sleep with the noise untill I find something else for him to sleep on. I wouldn't reccommend this item.

Satin Blind Fold

Satin Blind FoldThis nice mask fits me just fine, and does a great job of blocking out the light. It is nice and soft and comfortable, which makes sleeping with it quite easy. As for erotic play, the same properties which make it great for sleeping (effective light blocking, comfortable, soft) makes it a great tool. I highly recommend this mask!

(Review of Satin Blindfold)

Great price but the blindfold isn't very comfortable. It does it's job but maybe investing in a slightly better one is a good choice.
