I haven't used the aromatherapy packet that came with the sleep mask, but this works very well for my purposes. It's very comfortable to wear, and while it doesn't block 100% of all light (some peeks in around my nose), it blocks substantial amounts of light. With my eyes closed, I can't tell that light leaks in, and I don't know many people who try to sleep with their eyes open. In fact, I've been able to sleep undisturbed, straight through strong morning light in a curtainless room full of windows. Before using this mask, a tiny bit of morning light escaping between the slats of venetian blinds would wake me up, and I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. This was well worth the money to me. I like the pink fabric, but the textured part of it is totally unnecessary. It doesn't affect it's effectiveness, though.

Relaxso Stereo ASLEEP Pillow Speaker, Micro Fleece Violet

This is the third pillow-speaker I've owned.

The quality of the pillow and the speakers is top notch. There is just enough padding to make the speakers comfortable, but not so much the sound is obscured. The Pillowsonic Stereo Pillow Speaker, by comparison, has thin foam padding, and the Sangean Pillow Speaker (White) has none. (The Sangean is a thick plastic rock.)

No complaints about sound quality. The nature of the padding allows you to move around quite a bit and still hear the sound. The Pillowsonic and Sangean have a lot of dead zones where the pressure of your head or the pillow mutes the speaker.

My only gripe is that the cord is ridiculously short and cheap. It barely reaches my iPhone on the nightstand. Twice now I've snagged the cord as I was rolling over causing the phone to leap into the air and smash into my head. (It's in the drawer, now, but this means another snag will probably pull the cord apart.) The cord itself is extremely thin. and bends 90 degrees at the jack. Higher quality cords have strain relief to make the cord bend in an arc instead of sharp angles. (Sharp angle bends break the wire)

If you are handy with wire cutters, I strongly recommend an extension cord: Aurum Cables 3.5mm Car Stereo Auxiliary Male to Female. It will improve usability and may extend the life of the speakers.

[UPDATE] I DON'T recommend that you cut into the pillow to completely replace the wire. Inside the pillow is an unexpectedly complicated layering of foam and cloth. You'll never get it back together properly. I completely destroyed one pillow trying this.

Super comfy. Good sound. Can hear music and books easily. I use it w my Droid phone & it works perfectly. The cord is medium-ish. I could put the phone on a nightstand but I'm sure it would be pulled off in the middle of the night when I flop around. I leave the phone next to my pillow on the bed and it works perfectly.

I'm cheap so I though $18 + $5 shipping was a bit steep but it's worth it because I sleep so much better without a cord wound around my neck chocking me in the middle of the night.

Not alot of options out there for something like this. I am SUPER happy w this one & will definitly order again when this one goes to the great speaker in the sky.

I have used pillow speakers for years to lull me to sleep. I have tried cheep ones from Radio Shack as well as a better one from Crane. This one is the best for several reasons. It is not one speaker but two which provides stereo sound. The bass is reproduced quite well for a speaker this size. What I really like about it is that the speakers come in a thin "pillow" that, once in place, does not shift around. I added additional cord with a volume control for my own ease of use. The cord provided is a bit short but the solution is cheap. I highly recommend this pillow speaker.

Update: though they sound great, i found that the wires are easy to pull out and i'm now ordering another type of piloow speaker. this one didn't last a year. I also found that the fixed position of each speaker was too wide for my head. would not recommend.

I was considering making my own pillow speaker as I had done long ago, but after reading the reviews and comparing to other products, this seemed to be what I was looking for and it is even better. My home-grown solution previously was just a single speaker but this gives you stereo sound (although since my wife is a light sleeper, I can't use that at night due to the extra volume needed).

The speakers are fairly comfortable and don't add too much bulk to your pillow. I slide mine under my pillowcase to keep it in place better. I typically listen to just one speaker at a time at low volume at night and it works great for that. I read other reviews about the quality of the cable and plug but I don't see any need for it to be any different. Wearing headphones at night, I would often break the headphones tossing and turning, but with this solution your tossing and turning doesn't tug on anything so there isn't any risk of breaking the cord under normal use. Just put your mp3 player under your pillow and all stays in place. Perhaps the cord could be a little longer, but it is sufficient for most needs. Any extra needed you can just buy an extender.

I actually like the simple but ingenious elastic loop for coiling the cord neatly when storing or traveling with the unit as well.

I've long stated that the person who invents a "sleep aid" for toddlers who fight tooth and nail to not go to bed will be a trillionaire. Then my sister-in-law's aunt told me about Melatonin. I read about it on many blogs and was worried that the jury was still out about its safety and use in kids. At 20 years old, I've tried every single over-the-counter sleep aid on the market, including the pill form of Melatonin, and while the majority of them did help me get to sleep, they made it impossible to function the next day and I had to take it every night, sometimes doubling up on the dose.

I have used Dr Thompson's (The Relaxation Company) brainwave entrainment CD's and Health Journey's guided meditations for a number of years and find them helpful, mostly for relaxation. As an insomnia sufferer for the past 40 years, I have found both to be very effective but I like brainwave entrainment best.

It's important to take the time to research these products. There is plenty of scientific research found on the internet that backs up the claims made for light and sound technology. Ignore the hype and unrealistic claims made on some product websites.

I decided to try the MindSpa because it sounded like it might be even more effective than Thompson's CDs. Although a bit weird at first, I find that I like it very much. It seems to improve the quality of my sleep and helps with my daytime meditation.

The reason I say it was weird is because it is quite different from Thompson's. Thompson embeds the soundwave pulses in his music so you don't hear the pulses, just the music. In Mind Spa, it's just steady pulses without music and flickering lights from the LED glasses. One nice feature, though, is an extra jack to hook up to a CD so you can have the music you like along with the pulses and lights.

I have read reports (not just the one here but others too) that people experience dizziness and other odd effects afterward. I haven't had any problems. I was careful to read the booklet that comes with this and to do the programs as suggested. To just jump in to the most advanced program without acclimating to the technology is a mistake. Also, people with seizure disorders should not use this product because the flashing lights could trigger a seizure. There are other warnings concerning people with health problems, so go to the website to find out what they are.

I wasn't happy with the ear buds because they don't stay in my ears when I'm lying down but otherwise, this is a nicely designed product that's easy to use.

after using it for couple of weeks here are my observations.

I like it because:

It REALLY put me in a deep altered state, especially when using night programs. I felt better concentrated and relaxed, more confident too....

I don't like it because:

It caused me to become dizzy, and it is because of those blinking lights in glasses, although I use calm blue on lowest setting it is still too bright and all those blinking makes me dizzy. In the morning the state of being dizzy continues for the whole day... Alas,... maybe it is just my brain's response and your will be different. I would suggest you getting one and trying and putting your response here. Afterwards Richard Bandler recommended them. Hope that will work for you.

P.S. after using it for a month I returned the product. The company didn't refund the shipping, so I end up paying shipping twice!

I have tried many products over he years and MindSpa is by far the most effective product I have used and I have tried a lot of them.

If you are new to these light and sound machines, it is really worth the try. Here my explanation... They work very simply by mimicking the rhythms of the brain in a natural way. Olbas Sampler Kit

Olbas is a good blend of essential oils well known for their therapeutic properties, particularly for respiratory issues. Use the oil sparingly because it's scent (wintergreen) is very strong & might irritate those with sensitive skin/sinuses. The Olbas tea is one of my favorite remedies because it really seems it take the chill off during a cold, rainy autumn evening. I also find it useful when I have sinus congestion, coughs, or a mild headache but again, these are my personal experiences & someone else may not get the same relief from this product as I do. The tea is quite tasty but again, be mindful how much you add to your cup because it can become overpowering if you add too much. The Olbas pastilles are strong & have an acquired taste but I did find relief for my sore throat/cough using them. Again, caution in how you use these because too many in one day may cause nausea in sensitive individuals. The Olbas massage oil is nice in that it contains the original Olbas Oil with the European vitamin oil "HACOBA" (FYI: HACOBA oil is a mixture of vegetable oils which contain the vitamins B1, B2, B6, E & F (essential fatty acids) Excellent for the skin). The Olbas muscle rub works about the same as any other wintergreen type muscle rub pain reliever. In general, this kit is a nice little assortment of their main product line in sample sizes. The kit I originally ordered said it was 7-pcs but I was pleasantly surprised to receive the 9-pc instead at no extra cost.

This was definitely a great purchase. The kit contained multiple Olbas items that are all useful. The cost would be more expensive to purchase the items separately, so it's worth the price, plus you can try out the different products.

Growing up in the UK, I remember Olbas Oil as being powerfully strong so much so that I was afraid to get it on my skin when my mum was using it to alleviate the effects of the common cold I usually developed every year. I purchased this sampler kit recently to see if I could get my hands on something like what I remember. The oils and inhalers have the same smell, but I feel like they are weaker in strength than what I had in my childhood. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps Pure-Castile Soap, 18-in-1 Hemp Tea Tree, 32-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2)

For crying out loud! Have you people never smelled tea tree oil before? I guarantee you, that if you used a previous tea tree oil product that *didn't* smell like "turpentine", then it had hardly any tea tree oil in it, and you got ripped off.

Try this: next time you're at the health food store, go to the "essential oils" section, find a bottle of pure tea tree oil ("Desert Essence" is a good brand), and smell it. You will get the "turpentine" smell, in spades.

So why do I use it? Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial, and I use it constantly to "de-germ" my hands. It rinses clean--unlike commercial anti-bacterial soaps that leave an overwhelming perfume-y smell that takes hours to dissipate--and does not create the same problems as using a commercial anti-bacterial soap does: i.e., creating a "super-bacteria" that can't be killed.

The other, "pretty" smelling Bronner's soaps will do a fine job of cleaning your skin, but if you have a need for a natural anti-bacterial--as I do--then buy Bronner's Tea Tree, dilute it about 6:1 w/water, and put it in a pump bottle. Hold your breath if you don't like the smell.

Please don't bring down the ratings of this wonderful product just because it smells the way it shouldlike tea tree! I use it for washing hands and dishes.

I had a problem with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). I needed a soap that was chemical-free and natural so that I would not have an allergic reaction. This is absolutely wonderful. I was first introduced to Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree Oil soap when I was given a small bottle for piercing aftercare. I love this stuff! Not only did it speed up heal time on my piercings, I started using it as face wash on a regular basis (it's similar to the Body Shop's tea tree oil face care system) and I love it. The soap needs to be diluted other reviews mention users skin got too dry, I think this is from not diluting the soap enough and it lasts a very very long time. The Tea Tree oil smell is a bit strong, but I don't mind it, and it washes off clean, so it's not like you smell like the soap all day. This is a really great product. I'm stocking up on the Tea Tree Oil one and going to try the Lavender one as well.

I've used Dr. Bronner's my whole life. My mom loved the stuff. Most often the peppermint, but I love the tea tree for an anti-bacterial wash, laundry and most especially for teenage acne. I don't recall tea tree from my teens but when my son started having break outs I had him start using the Dr. Bronner's tea tree and it did help clear it up. Rinses off very clean and it's a pure natural soap.

I am taking these because of my insomnia and my doctor told me to try those. Although it helps me stay asleep for good 5-6 hours, it does take me a long time to go down. Sometimes over 2.5 hours before I am asleep (I do give a benefit of doubt that it may have to do with my before bedtime habit (like watching TV and reading and the fact that I really don't try to sleep until I am really sleepy). I give it a 3 stars because although it seems effective enough, fact that I need to take 2 every night, costing me $100.00 for 30 day supply, I am not sure if this is worth the money as I feel 3mg of melatonin used to work just as good as these. I am not saying good sleep is not worth it, but melatonin are extremely inexpensive compared to these and I haven't really noticed any dramatic difference in effects. AND the fact that this only comes in one size, 30 pill bottle, and I can not find them any less than $50.00/bottle. If they only made larger size and deeper discount, it may be worth the money but I am having hard time telling any difference between those and simple melatonin. I will have to talk to my doc and see if there's any alternatives to this product because it is just a lot of money.

Kavinace PM was like a miracle to me.

This works very well for my back problems. Just slightly too firm for my back, but I put a pillow behind me. The zippers allow this to be attached all together as one piece or for the 3 pieces to be used separately. Zipping them together prevents the pieces sliding and leaving you in a "hole" in the middle.

I had back surgery in Dec. 2006 and needed something (and still do) to allow me to sleep in the bed. This is perfect. I've even brought it with me on vacation (it doesn't pack very well though for airline travel ;) I can now sleep through the night, in bed with my wife, with relatively no pain. I only need to find a very thin pillow for me head because a regular pillow causes me some neck discomfort due to lifting my head too much and the BackMax is a little too firm to use no pillow. But that's nothing compared to the relief I've gotten from this product. I highly recommend it for anyone with back issues.

However, be prepared for the fact that you'll probably still need some extra pillows to really customize it and you may really feel the absence of arm supports. I purchased this product with the built in massage for another $100(for a grand total of $199.99)and was so excited to get it because I suffer from disk herniations in my lower back. What a disappointment! I am an average size woman and 5'7" and my feet were hanging off of the end. The cushions are so narrow that your arms end up dangling off of the sides unless you prop more pillows on either side of you. If you don't put pillows beneath your head you end up hyper extending your neck. The massage was a joke, no variable speed and required 8 batteries. Photosonix InnerPulse Light Therapy Sound Machine

I've wanted a L&S machine for over a decade. At first I was all over "the Muse" by a defunct company named Zygon.

I was always told not to buy something over a certain dollar amount and wait. Wait and see if you still want it. I guess to check the impulsiveness. Anyways...

I came across not this machine but the Proteus. Both have great attributes. I can't and won't comment on the ergonomics of the Proteus as I never used it. The InnerPulse does look like a Walkman from my youth. Inconsequential. It delivers what I need it to.

I primarily use the relaxation and learning libraries. I've never been able to achieve that level of receptive consciousness so quickly. If you have an mp3 player with some subliminal and-or hypnosis recordings that is a plus. I've noticed it greatly improves their assimilation when used with a L&S machine.

I have noticed that even without the glasses I can just close my eyes and achieve a similar state of relaxation. Spending more money on the better glasses may not be necessary for anything other than your fascination with a nice light show. Also check out the company's website to see the three categories of downloadable sessions. I used the open slots for all the learning sessions.

I welcome any questions you have but bear in mind I'm no L&S expert and they are just my opinions. I am quite happy with my purchase. As you may also see on other review of the other machines, if you are prone to epileptic episodes do not use the light glasses. However, as I said, I believe the same effects can be achieved with the headphones only and close eyes.

Some may like it and some may not. At nearly $200 it's perhaps not an item to just "try". If you know anyone with one try theirs. I didn't and bought this one. Partly because I wanted one for so long but also it's one of the least expensive at under $200. The Nova Pro may have more bells and whistles (not sure) but for what I wanted in a machine this certainly fit the bill.

I bought a pair of these in an attempt to reduce stress years ago but apparently I didn't have enough faith or patience to notice a difference. I also found them to be irritating to try and use in a lit room because light creeps in around the glasses and makes the whole experience kind of cheesy. In a dark room, however, the lights are cool to watch and kind of hallucinogenic.
