I love that the Balm is organic. I love the scent, which is light enough that it usually doesn't turn my stomach. It's a blend of lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, mandarin and sandalwood; really soothing (hence the name, I suppose). There's menthol in the mix too, not enough to give much scent, but also not enough to provide any sort of distracting, cooling sensation as promised. The texture of the balm is nice and smooth, not too firm to apply but without a thick, greasy feeling either. It's a really nice product for aromatherapy and relaxation, but it doesn't do a thing for my headaches.
If you're looking for headache relief, I'd suggest HeadOn Apply Directly to Forehead Migraine Relief .2 oz (5.67 g) instead. It's fragrance-free and provides the distracting, menthol cooling sensation I was hoping to find in this Headache Soother. However, if you're just looking for a nicely scented, organic balm for relaxation, this is perfect. I'll probably buy it again, just not for its stated use. This is particularly helpful for the nausea that so often accompanies a migraine but I find it soothing for any type of headache or stomach upset. I sent a couple tins to my grade-school aged niece and her mother was most excited to find something safe and natural to help with migraine symptoms.I get pretty bad headaches year round, so I decided to try this out in conjunction with my pain medication. The smell is absolutely wonderful, and the formula is smooth but not greasy. It works great for a bit of tension, I like to rub it on my stiff neck and around my temples, but it doesn't do a thing for my headaches. The smell fades pretty quickly too. I'd recommend it for a bit of stress relief, but for headaches I'd go with HeadOn Apply Directly to Forehead Migraine Relief .2 oz (5.67 g).I've used lavender and peppermint for a while now to ease my migrains so I was so happy to see it together in a balm. It smells great, is easy to throw in your purse and take with you, and it eases a headache with the help of other remedies. The only drawback that I found is the product scent isn't as strong as I'd like and it fades relatively fast therefore not as effective as I'd like. When I make my own aromatherapy at home I prefer the lavender and peppermint a little stronger and the scent to last a little longer, but I understand that it could be too much for some people; this is good on the go or in a pinch.
