Respironics Premium Chin Strap

It had become apparent to me as a long time CPAP user that I needed a chin strap to keep my mouth closed. I purchased a cheap strap thru Amazon as a trial balloon. Found that the concept could work, but that the design of the strap was inadequate. So I looked for a better design, and found this one. It's actually engineered to keep the mouth closed, making use of a chin cradling design held in place by a designed angle approach. It works. It's comfortable, and I'm extremely satisfied.

This strap works fine and it works without the extra strap that wraps around the back of your head. I got used to it quickly and for the most part it was comfortable. The surprise came in just a couple of months when it began to fall apart: chin part split into strips, velcro stripped out and barely held it together. This has an embarrassingly short working lifespan. Obviously made with inferior products. I do hope they improve their work.

I did not buy this strap from Amazon, but got it from my doctor. I hate this strap. It is very uncomfortable. It will not stay in place. I have tried multiple angles and tightness and it slips off or digs into my face-both waking me up multiple times to adjust it. I have used hairpins to try to keep it in place, but that doesn't always work and can be uncomfortable too. The Velcro sticks to my hair(I wear it in a pony tail) and the seams along the chin piece are tearing after 2 1/2 months of use. I have used a CPAP for 11 years, but this is the first time I have used a chin strap, so maybe that is a common time frame. My insurance doesn't cover equipment/supplies, so I try to use everything for as long as duct tape can hold it together but I am happily replacing this.
