Hivox Stop Snoring Device

This device does actually work. When you start snoring it give you a little muscle twitch just under the device on your wrist. I pretty much leave it on max so it wakes me up when I snore. That way I can adjust my sleep position. It's nice that it uses a standard AAA battery. It turns off after 8 hours so the batteries last longer. My only complaint is the small replacement pads will run out eventually and I need to find out how to get more. You can apply a bit of water to the pads each night to keep them working good.

It worked on me, but not my wife and brother.

Maybe because they are a little over weight.

I do recommend the product.

It actually has helped my breathing.

My lungs are not congested. Both of my nostrils are open.

One thing, the Hivox comes with little gel electrode stickers that conduct the small shocks.

You soon run out and find that replacing them is hard to find them and expensive to buy them.

But I just use a gel. Any kind of liquid that won't evaporate by morning.

My wife can finally sleep through the night. The snore stopper wakes me up before I wake her up. I battle the snore stopper some nights, trying to find the right position. Most nights I seem to just sleep through the night without an issue. It's clearly changed some of my sleeping behaviors so that I sleep much better and so does my wife. Good job all around.

As for finding the electrode pads, you can find them on 2shopper.com. It's an unimpressive web site with a pretty poor checkout process, but they do have packs of 3 for 7.99. I've gone through 1 pack in a month, so I figure it's not all that expensive.

I did try the electrode Gel, but it seemed to have shorted out my Snore Stopper and I ended up purchasing a new one. It wasn't worth it (especially the nights I had to go without the Snore Stopper).

I bought this product thinking it would help my snoring problem and preventing my gf from waking up in the middle of the night to put on ear plugs. However, just after 1 day of using this product, I figured this product was very uncomfortable to use let alone work at all. For one, you would have to sleep with no covers over yourself this means it is cold at night and you want to cover your whole body (excluding your head) this device would not work because the covers would somehow "filter" your snoring making it useless. With this being said, the only position you can sleep is flat on your back, you would not be able to sleep sideways unless your hand is positioned ackwardly so that the device mic is free from any obstruction. The instructions that came with it also says that it recommends that there shouldn't be any noises from a/c, heaters, etc. because it will throw off the device. To sum this up, for this to work you would have to sleep completely flat, can't move around otherwise theres a possibility you're obstructing the device mic, and when you sleep it has to be completely quiet (free from external noises other than your snore). I returned this product because basically it's hard to make this product work.

The BEST Pure Stop Snoring NEOPRENE Chin Strap

I usually find the Amazon product reviews very helpful, but they seem to be nearly useless for these anti-snoring products. Look at the ratings on the various chin strap/jaw supporter products. They all seem to have about an equal percentage of people who really like them and those who find them useless.

I think this is the reason why: people who snore (with or without sleep apnea) vary so widely in their head and neck shapes and sizes. So one product may be very effective if a person is fat with a blubbery neck and big melon while this same product wouldn't work for a pencil-necked, weak-jawed geek (uh, I'm afraid that would be me). And vice-versa. I suspect that the companies who make these products are reluctant to be too specific about this aspect, as it would likely limit the market for buyers of their product.

I like this product. It is comfortable and effective, for me. But my hat size isn't 8 1/2 and my neck doesn't resemble the leg of an elephant. I didn't give it five stars because I think the description of its sizing is misleading.

When reviewing these products designed to decrease snoring I suggest that we reviewers describe certain of our personal features, so others will have a better idea if the product is likely to work for them. I don't think the ratings will ever be very helpful if we don't.

Here's what I suggest, for starters:

1. Age range. Me, around 60.

2. Male/female. Me, a male.

3. Fat, thin, or in between. Height/wieight would be most helpful but a general description would help too. Me, 6' 170lbs

4. How big is your neck/gourd? You will notice that many reviewers of these items complain about them being too small or too large. To help determine this, use a tape measure. Place it under your jaw, the junction of your lower jaw and the upper part of your neck. Pass it around the crown of your noggin, around the biggest circumference, then bring it back down to the neck/lower jaw starting point. For me this is 27 inches.

5. Perhaps hat size, if you know it. Mine is 7 1/8.

The BEST Pure Stop Snoring NEOPRENE Chin Strap description says that one size fits all, adjusts to fit anyone. Not true, methinks. The velcro strips that attach together at the top of the head just barely, barely extend far enough to attach to each other, even with my close-to-normal-sized bean and 27 inch measurement above. If your head and neck are big bulgy things, this device isn't going to fit, unless you want to get crafty and modify it by sewing in lenghtened velcro straps.

Snoring/sleep apnea are caused in the great majority of cases by the lower jaw falling back and blocking the airway as jaw and neck muscles relax during deep sleep. There are several product types (chin straps, the mouth guard products, carefully-fit cervical collars, etc.) which are designed to push or pull the lower jaw forward, making a wider pathway for air. These different approaches are variably effective in different people. If one doesn't work, try another of the same general type or combine different types. Other approaches that apparently help some people are devices that widen the nostrils and various medicines/sprays. There are also surgical approaches that are quite effective.

Snoring is associated with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea, which is relatively common, involves the windpipe being blocked enough to actually close off the flow of air and cause frequent episodes during sleep when breating stops, thus decreasing the oxygen in the blood. This is a very dangerous situation. While snoring is a problem mostly for others within earshot, sleep apnea is a killer, and that fact is not to be forgotten.

A sleep study is the ultimate way to determine if you have this condition or whether your homemade treatment is effective. And CPAP device use under professional care is accepted to be the best way to assure successful treatment. But hey, no one wants to deal with that CPAP monster if there is an effective but easier and cheaper way.

My husband had previously purchased two of these chin straps for the cost of $120 a fact that I did not know until they had arrived. After some time they stretched and I had to stitch them in order for him to keep them on his head. The Neoprene Chin Strap has velcro which allows for a tighter fit. While both Chin Straps does the job of controlling the snoring, the price $15 and quality of the Neoprene Chin far exceeds the one HE paid $120 for.

I have only been using this product for about a week but to this point I consider them the best chin straps I have had and I have been using chin straps for over 20 years so that's a lot of chin straps. They are comfortable and do not slip like so many I have had in the past and actually do what they are suppose to do. My only concern is durability. They seem lightly constructed. Chin straps usually do not survive for more than six months so I will try and update at that time. Unless they fall apart in a relatively short time I will be buying this product again. They were considerably cheaper than the ones I have bought at medical supply centers and are more effective the primary consideration for this type of product.

My original concern has been borne out the construction was not sturdy enough to last long. About five months was all I could stretch until they (literally) began falling apart. I am trying to find a heavier construction with a similar design.

I like that this product contains a high amount of calcium and magnesium in one spoonful. But was very disappointed to find out it contains 'carageenan', a thickener made from seaweed that has been found to cause inflammation...not something any of us need. Here's a statement I found while doing research on the ingredients (from Dr. Andrew Weil's site):

"Over the years Dr. Tobacman has published 18 peer-reviewed studies that address the biological effects of carrageenan and is convinced that it is harmful to human health. In April 2012, she addressed the National Organic Standards Board on this issue and urged reconsideration of the use of carrageenan in organic foods.

In her presentation, Dr. Tobacman said that her research has shown that exposure to carrageenan causes inflammation and that when we consume processed foods containing it, we ingest enough to cause inflammation in our bodies. She explained that all forms of carrageenan are capable of causing inflammation. This is bad news. We know that chronic inflammation is a root cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and cancer."

LifeTime -please remove the carrageenan from the product and replace it with a safer alternative. Also it would be nice if a little boron was added to help with the calcium/magnesium.

The cover is extremely soft, fleece-like material and it fit over the pad very easily. It secures on with another elastic on the bottom, which most covers don't have and it does fit snug.

The swaddle is a great idea except it's a bit small. I put my 9 month old in it and put her arms in the swaddle but it's very easy for a bigger baby to get out. It is definitely better suited for smaller babies. I think if the swaddle part was made just a little bit bigger it would be better. The velcro part also tends to stick to the pad itself so sometimes that's a hassle to get out.

Otherwise, I do like the cover. It is durable and soft but the swaddle part could be improved upon.

I wasn't sure I'd really need something like this, but I found myself putting blankets over my daughter's body during changes to keep her calm, so it seemed like it might be a good idea. It definitely was! It only takes a moment to swaddle baby, so it's really easy. I do with that the swaddle detached, though, because I think this is a product that you will only need during certain stages of babyhood, like early on when baby needs to feel snug and then again during those wiggly months when baby won't stay still. I did a lot of research between brands before ordering this item. Ultimately the deciding factor for me was the company's website. I found that there is a medical grade of this item requiring a prescription and it is the same item. The specifications for the two are listed side-by-side and even the price is the same; the only difference is this one does not require a prescription. The medical grade meters must meet FDA tests so this one obviously does, as well.

I like the continuous readout. From the pictures I was not quite certain what to expect in the readouts or performance I didn't feel the descriptive information was precise on this. The readouts are for pulse rate, blood oxygen level, and a scale that, literally, shows your pulse and the strength of your pulse. This enables you to know if you are getting a strong enough pulse to get a good reading.

After first putting the unit on, I did some moving around, sitting still, and various things to change my activity level. The pulse rates changed accordingly and there were some variances in the oxygen level, as would be expected. Though I have just quite smoking (mostly) I did light up and had a few quick drags to see what effect this would have (lower oxygen at first, then catching back up almost to not-smoking level).

I'm impressed with the unit. It will operate economically on AAA batteries. If I end up using it a lot, I'll probably go to rechargeables for it.

While this one was a few dollars more than some of the alternatives, I felt it would be the most reliable from the research I did. After receiving it, I am extremely pleased with the way it works. I would highly recommend it.

I am a respiratory therapist and I have been using this device for about five months now. It is relatively cheap compared to the Nonin Onyx but as a medical professional I would recommend spending the extra money and having a nicer device. This pulse ox does not read sometimes. (not because of fingernail polish or hypotension/hypothermia; although that messes with the reading too like all pulse oximeters) This pulse ox tends to read lower than usual than most other devices. Why? I don't know.

Is it bad? Not entirely, This is probably the ideal device for athletes who want to check their pulse and oxygen saturation.

In other words, it's perfect for those who are completely healthy and normal, It's only $99 and will work great for you.

I received my Apollo Sun Touch Light and Ion Therapy unit about a month ago and have been using it every morning. It seems to be a high quality product. I have had no problems of any kind with it. The bright light therapy does seem to be helping with my sleep cycle and my mood. I am very satisfied with this product.

I just received my light box. I had been anxiously waiting for it since it had gotten such great reviews. I unpacked it and it does not have an US style power plug. I called Philips Respironics and after waiting for quite a while the representative curtly said that that was a discontinued product and they could do nothing about it. I guess I will have to return it to amazon. What a disappointment.

I purchased this for my wife. She prefers this full spectrum light box over the GoLite Blue Light unit, although the Sun Touch is substantially larger than the GoLite. This product is relatively lightweight for its size, easy to handle, and durable. I would recommend it for depression treatments.

I have this attached to a power timer such that it comes on 30 minutes before my alarm clock. I then do my morning routine.

You know that feeling when you wake up in bed to the sun streaming in your window? How that can make your whole day? Well that's what waking up to this light is. It didn't have the same effect on me when I tried keeping it on my desk at work. For some reason, the benefit for me REALLY kicked in when I woke up to it. Seattle mornings are pretty yucky :)

Anyway, even just a couple of days of a brighter mood made this an extremely worthwhile purchase. My advice is to wake up to it and be around it in the morning(even if that means less than an hour of exposure) rather than focusing on the quantity of hours. Or at least, try the wakeup approach in addition to the "on my desk at work" approach before settling on one.

Anyway ... in conclusion, it's a great way to wake up and definitely has the potential to brighten your mood, which can make you more productive, etc. I know it's not a placebo effect, because it didn't work for me when it was just on my desk.
