I'm a computer programmer. I have been coding 8-26 hours a day (yes) since 1989.

Within the past year, I would get home and my hands would be KILLING me. Tight, sore, felt like arthritis burn in my joints. Achy and stressed. My forearms felt tight, tired, and painful. I did not have the night-wakeups with the dead hands that is typical of CTS, however I was getting scared nonetheless. I make my money on my hands, and let it go as long as I could, but just reached a point where I had to do something.

I'm not sure if it's CTS, Repetitive Stress Injury, or what is going on. I am skeptical of the medical industry generally speaking, and from much research on the topic, many people feel that CTS is merely the symptom. There's a source causing it, and while you can relieve the symptom, it's better to cure what's causing it. Approaching my condition with that mentality, I wanted to try some therapy before going the medical route.

I bought these and slapped em on for about two weeks. About a week in, I was noticing a SIGNIFICANT difference in my pain. I wore these day and night. Weeks 3 and 4 I only wore them occasionally. And after the first month, my hands weren't back to new, but if the pain I had was 100% prior, I'd say my aches and pains are now about a 5%. I don't wear them much anymore. If I have a particularly stressful and long week at the computer, I will use them when the pain gets bad, and they do bring relief.

For me, this product was exactly what I needed. Everyone who is reading this is in a different spot, but for me and whatever my condition is, these have allowed me to get back to crankin' out code and not having to go home and do nothing with my hands because they hurt too much. I'm even back to playing drums on rock band, which is pretty big.

PROS

* Excellent fit. I am 5'10" skinny male with thin to average hands, and got the mediums. I measured according to the sizing sheet, and the fit was great, so use the sizing guide

* The skin that they are in is outstanding in the winter. I'm freezing at work pretty much all of the time, and these definitely warmed up my hands a bit.

* I guess above all, they helped relieve the pain, tremendously.

CONS

* The inner stitching in the nook of my thumb and forefinger was abrasive. The first few days it was definitely an irritant, but not enough to stop using them. Next version of these, the stitching should be of a softer material

* In the summer, they do get warm. And sweaty, and they will definitely retain an odor. Washing them is no biggie, you remove the metal (no effort required, the gloves have openings where each metal piece slides out), toss them in the wash, and it's all good.

This is my first and only pair of braces, I have nothing to compare them to. I started with this nice, more expensive pair because I didn't want to get some cheap crap, wear it for a month and find out they didn't help.

I would not hesitate to give these a try if your story is similar to mine. Best of luck to everyone who is fighting this.

I picked these up because I was feeling numbness in my thumb and went to the doctor; he said it was Carpal Tunnel. He gave me a medical brace to wear while I slept. As it turns out, the brace was helping out so much that I started wearing it all of the time. I used it while sleeping, at work, etc. All of a sudden, everybody I talked to was an expert on Carpal Tunnel. I was wishing people would mind their own business. I quickly noted that the brace provided by the doctor didn't "breathe" properly, and I had to wash it every few days because it began to smell. These braces aren't like that one -they provide great support, and I haven't noticed any issue with odor. I'm certain I would have, as I'm one of those people who makes a mental note when somebody who's wearing a leather watch strap might not be aware of the smell if they don't give it time off, and I'll make an attempt to stay away from that situation because it makes me sick to my stomach. Anyway, if you think you have a need for good braces and don't want to deal with washing them all of the time, these are the best I've found.

I am pleased with these braces. I ordered them as soon as I discovered early symptoms of tendonitis. I work in healthcare, and, because the braces are thin, I am able to wear exam gloves over the top of them. The supports keep my wrists straight and the curve on the palm side allows my hand to rest/hover at the appropriate level when using a mouse. I like the overall design mainly because I can still use my fingers and thumbs for most tasks with little interference. These braces serve their purpose well. After some consistent use, they become more cozy, less stiff, but still maintain good wrist support. I sweat a little on the inside, but there is no unpleasant odor whatsoever and the breathability is satisfying. On a side note, they make me feel like a ninja, which is the most important reason to buy them of course!

These braces are well made and do the job of restricting my wrists and preventing carpal tunnel "dead arm" while I sleep. But these particular braces are designed to increase heat in the wrist area which I guess is meant to help heal, but I don't think the heat is going to "heal" my carpel tunnel and I find that for sleeping I get uncomforatably hot in them. They don't breathe at all and when I wake up my wrists are sweaty. In the summer, wearing these braces all night is out of the question. I can deal with them in the winter and I like how tightly they wrap around my wrist and I feel they restrict my movement better than some other braces I've tried. They have the metal splint on both sides of your wrist, whereas a lot of other braces have it on just one side. But the heat thing is a problem for me. I know that's how they were designed, but I guess they weren't meant for overnight use.

Used this product for about 2-1/2 weeks before writing this review. I can easily see one tube lasting for 2 or more months as only a tiny bit is needed to massage into your face and neck when the skin is already wet.

I am very sensitive to allergens and have a problem with many chemical scents. The barely there scent is pleasant and only noticeable when I brought the tube up to my face for a sniff test. I don't notice it at all when applying the product.

My face does feel smoother than when just using my moisturizer alone, and I was surprised that this was accomplished with so little exfoliating granules. Although part of me wishes there was a tad more of them per application.

Apparently the detoxifying aspect of it works since I've broken out in a couple of places. That too seems to be gentle or I would have expected a much larger break out at once to get rid of the toxins in my pores.

I love Aveeno products, and this one is no exception. The exfoliating particles are very fine, so you don't feel like you're sandpapering your face, and it smells amazing! I used to be able to see the dead, dry skin on my face after I put on my makeup, but I can't see that anymore...and I've only used it 3 times! I use this scrub every morning and night. The smell is clean and not overpowering. The scrubbing beads are tiny enough to effectively slough away dead skin cells without leaving your face looking and feeling raw. My one gripe about this cleanser is that it dries out parts of my skin. I have a very oily t-zone and the cleanser actually balances out this area very nicely, but the drier parts of my skin, i.e. the corners of my nose and lips, become ridiculously dry after washing my face. ResMed Swift LT/Swift LT for Her Nasal Pillows (Medium)

I've had a chance to try out my wife's older nasal pillow.......(She likes it so much, she ordered a new one)...and I like it very much too.

It's very easy to clean, maintain, install, adjust and wear. Although I've only been on my CPAP for several months now, I like this design and it's compatiblilty with my Respironics outfit.

The pillows fit easily into my nostrils and for the most part are comfortable and stable. I find it easy to turn over with and find that it doesn't take much effort to seal any leaks that may occur. The smaller tube that connects to the pillow easily fits into the larger tube that comes with my Respironics and seems to perform as well, if not better than the TrueBlue mask that came with my Respironics.

I would reccomend this nasal pillow to any one currently using a CPAP or anticipating getting one. A perscription is usually needed, and Medicare will pay 80% of the cost.

It's nice to be able to buy just the size you need, one at a time. So far, this is the most comfortable nasal pillow I have found including two previous models of the Swift line.

Interesting to note that with some careful shopping I can purchase most of my CPAP supplies out of pocket for less than the respiratory supply company was charging me for the co-pay alone. No wonder insurance is so expensive!

Nature Made Melatonin Tablets, 5 Mg, 90 Count

These Nature Made Melatonin tabs are fantastic. Before these, I had been taking horse-pill size liquid gels, that each had 1.5mg (so I would take two a night, to total to 3mg) of melatonin in them. These liquid gels were put out by Rapid Nutrition, as seen here: Rapid Nutrition Rapid Sleep PM, 60-Count Bottle. These were horrendous! They had this awful smelling, awful tasting "artificial vanilla" residue plastered all over the capsule, so that not only would they go down with a lot of pain, but you would get the taste in your mouth, on your hands, and in the air where you were taking it. Plus, and maybe this is just me, but the concentration wasn't nearly high enough. I'd only find myself getting slightly drowsy once their recommended half hour mark was hit, and even then I wouldn't be able to fall asleep for another ten or fifteen minutes.

The Nature Made tablets:

-are small, they go down easily

-are tasteless, so no vile lingering putridity

-are well packed, with cotton packing them in so that they are safe and not at risk to be broken

-come in a handy little bottle that can be slipped into a crevice of a backpack or suitcase

After taking the Nature Made melatonin tablets, I can feel an effect in half the time they recommend, which is, conveniently, the same half hour mark that Rapid Sleep recommends. I like to pop the tab and then take a shower, so that once I'm out, I'm ready to crawl into bed and get to sleep, which these allow me to do. They're more concentrated, more pleasant to take, and more effective than Rapid Sleep melatonin.

Also, as a random note to the person who wrote the one-star review on these, they come with cotton lining to protect the integrity of the pills, so that they don't split open and you don't open your bottle to find half a pill. I mean, seriously? If they were going to pack the bottle all the way full of melatonin, you'd be paying $40 or $50 for it, what kind of marketing would that be? Get your stuff straight before you hate on a company and drive folks away from a good product.

This is a great product if your working an off shift like I am. It helps reset your internal clock so you can sleep in the day.

This is a great sleep aid! I work night shifts, and have been thinking for awhile of finding a melatonin supplement to help me sleep during the day, especially when I only have 8-12hrs between shifts and need to fall asleep as soon as possible. It typically takes me awhile to fall asleep, even at night, but I get very drowsy about 30 minutes after taking this and am out like a light. I usually don't wake up until my alarm goes off, only occasionally to go to the bathroom. When I do get up to get ready for work, I have no problem actually waking up (well, no more than normal) and getting moving. The lowest amount of sleep I've gotten since taken it has been 6hrs, though, so I'm not sure if I would be drowsy upon waking with fewer hours of sleep. I don't take it when I sleep @ night, and when I have a longer amount of time in the morning to fall asleep and stay asleep after a night shift, and I haven't noticed any side effects from taking it irregularly. Overall, I love this product!

This gum should not be used as a sleep substitute, IMHO, but it can serve very well in situations when you cannot take a nap and you must continue to function. Its cinnamon taste isn't the best, but it is tolerable and you can get used to it. It works well even for a major coffee drinker (who is used to caffeine) like myself.

I really like the Stay Alert gum. I tried the Penguin Energy gum, but this is much better. I recieved this package in a nice sealed envelope from the 'stay alert group' First with the taste. There are many people who can't handle the taste of this gum and spit it out right away. I don't find the taste too bad actually. The first minute of chewing the gum tastes just like any other cinnamin gum. After the first minute its bitter caffine heaven from there. Nothing too repulsive, but people with weak taste tolerance should avoid this flavor. Included in my package was a sample of their new flavor "arctic mint" which i enjoyed more than the cinnamin and would recommend it. Now i tried this gum while i was fully alert and active, and i didn't feel much different. A bit jittery, and lost my appetite. Other instances, i took the gum while i couldn't stay awake in class. Head bobbing and all. And within 5 minutes of chewing the gum, i felt the effects strongly. Light headed, didn't feel the need to sleep, jittery, and the slight need to run around. All in all, i recommend this gum. It may work for some people stronger than others but you'll never know until you try it. I found it mediocrely effective in keeping me alert and awake. I have yet to chew two peices at once.

I've worn night guards for years. I grind my teeth at night so I wear these. I've always got them from my dentist but their prices have more than doubled and are now ridiculous at $300 a pop. I figured I would give this a try. The kit came in a couple days and I made my impressions. The instructions were very easy to follow and the whole process took only about 8 minutes. I shipped my impressions back and had my night guard within 10 days. They will even give you duplicates for a couple extra dollars. I didn't get one but next time I will. For the price you can't beat it.

Anyway, the night guard was very similar to the one I've always got from my dentists office. It was just a tad bit thicker, but my mouth adjusted in a few days. It has held up perfectly now for about 4 months. No problems whatsoever. The fit was perfect and I will purchase this again. I am very happy and would recommend this as a nice alternative to the overpriced dentist guards.

Also, I have tried just about every mouth guard/night guard out there. Over the counter models, dental models, cheap and expensive. I've never found a "drug-store" or over the counter model that has been comfortable. If you need one for everyday (or every night) use, then you need a professionally made night guard. Don't waste your money on the $25 two-packs at the drug-store. And if you have a choice between top and bottom, I would recommend a bottom-mouth night guard. I found that the top-style mouth guards just fall out of my mouth when I sleep. Stick with the bottom style. They will stay put much better.

I received my molding kit within a few days of ordering and received the night guard about 3 weeks later, all by USPS. I'm very happy with the finished night guard. I can't compare it to a dentist's because I decided not to pay the $300+ to get one from him. Compared to "The Doctor's" brand, I like this one much better. "The Doctor's" was very convenient but I didn't like the large amount of material in the front. It actually exacerbated the natural overbite which I'm sure in the long run could worsen TMJ. This night guard allows you to clench your teeth without it changing your jaw alignment. I can't speak for the durability yet because I've not used it long enough.

The molding is so much easier than the boil method but I wish they gave you more material to work with. Only after receiving the night guard do you find out you can order more molding material (at $12 each I believe). My mold was rather shallow because of the combination of the amount of material and the fact that I probably didn't push hard enough in the beginning of the process. (Push VERY firmly!!!) The guard still came out wonderfully and covers my teeth fully without touching my gums. They have an amazing ability to work from a shallow mold I guess!

Will order again when this one wears out. :)

I have a hard acrylic plate made by my dentist. It cost about $300, but it's lasted over ten years, which is pretty amazing for something that spends the night in your mouth. I wanted to have a backup guard handy, but something softer and less expensive since I'm still using the hard plate.

The kit I received included two plastic impression plates -a small and a large -and the instructions say to send back the "unused" one. Ew. Have a bottle of Purell or Germ-X ready.

The small plate was too narrow in the back, so I had to use the large one, which barely fit in my mouth. I recommend first trying a dry run by placing the plate in your mouth without the clay in it to see how you're going to be able to comfortably hold a still position for the eight minutes the process requires.

You get two packets of putty -one white, one purple -and have to mix them together to create a compound which quickly hardens to make the mold. My white packet looked like a leftover piece that had been wrapped in a piece of wax paper, then put in a little ziploc baggie. (You'd think this putty stuff was made from soft platinum, the way everyone's so stingy with it.) They really should give you two sets of putties so you can take two impressions and use the better one, since getting a good impression is so crucial for the guard's ultimate quality.

(When I had my hard plate made, the dental assistant had to take my impressions twice because the first batch didn't come out right, and this was someone who'd probably done it tons of times before.)

The instructions emphasize not to bite down when making the impression, because biting could cause your teeth to shift in the putty. Use your fingers to press the plate hard against your teeth and stabilize the position. Don't just use the plate's little handle, which is really more for the insertion and removal process.

My mold came out kind of unbalanced, with my front teeth really deep and molars shallow. The instructions also say to roll the putty into a hot dog shape, but I think the ends of the hot dog should be a little thicker since that's where your molars go.

Anyway, twelve days later, I received my plate. It's made of a kind of clear rubbery substance, soft and flexible. It's thicker than my acrylic plate, but I can still comfortably close my mouth without my teeth contacting it, and the edges are trimmed short so they don't pinch your gums. It's also a significantly looser fit than my hard plate, which is why I had it made for my lower teeth to let gravity help keep it in place.

I tried it for a couple nights, and it worked well. Stayed in place with no morning soreness, visible wear, or waking up in the middle of the night.

So all in all, it's a pretty good deal. You can order a backup guard for a little over half the price of the original one. Still, I really think they should add ten bucks to the price and give you two sets of putties to work with, since the second impression will almost always be better than the first.

I can't comment about the guard's long-term durability yet, but it seems like a feasible low-cost alternative to a hard plate if you get a good fit, and no trips to the dentist necessary.

I'm a light sleeper and need earplugs to block out refrigerator noise and other annoying machine hums. These are absolutely the most comfortable ear plugs of all that I've tried, and they do a great job of blocking out both low and high frequency hums. The only thing that's odd about them is that when you use them on a plane, all the noise goes away EXCEPT for the conversations of fellow travelers! So, great for sleeping, but not to block out conversation.

Note that there's a trick to inserting these, and all foam earplugs. Roll the plug tightly between your hands to compress it, then insert into your ear with one hand, while with the other hand you pull up on your ear to straighten the ear canal. Sounds ridiculous, but this will really give you a snug fit and more comfort.

Then, when I try to remove the rollers, the snap open is very hard and I usually bend the heck out of the roller before I can snap it open. The plastic is fairly bendable, so i haven't broken any of them.....but that 'snap' difficulty has me growling each time I use the rollers.
