Side sleepers need firm support for the neck and head. If you are not a side sleeper (or even back sleeper), this pillow will not be the right shape for your sleeping habits. This pillow will probably not suit stomach sleepers very well.
I'm sad that the firmness of the pillow seems to be decreasing though. It is softer and not as firm as before. This is after about 3-4 months of nightly use. I noticed it getting slightly softer after 2 months. Every ergonomic pillow I have used in the past has done this so maybe my expectations are too high.
I give this pillow an overall great review and side sleepers will probably not miss sore or stiff necks and shoulders that they may experience with traditional pillow shapes.Pillows in general are very subjective. For me, this pillow does what I need it to. It takes the pressure off of my shoulder while I sleep and already I have less pain as a result.
I start with this pillow and switch to my old one when I need to. Last night, my 2nd night using this pillow, I swapped out after approximately 5 hours. I expect it will take several more days for me to get fully adjusted to the new pillow. This is to be expected when adjusting to a unique pillow such as this. Even though I am not yet at the point of using it all night, I have noticed less pain (almost no pain) in my shoulder and neck when I wake up.
Typical of memory foam, there is a strong smell to this pillow. I do not know how long it will take for this smell will fade. If you are scent sensitive this may not be a good pillow for you.
The pillow is very firm and uniquely shaped. It is not a pillow with which to put behind your back to read. It may not be a good pillow for those who change positions when they sleep. Also, if you have a narrow build, you may find that height is too high.

This pillow was purchased for my son that has neck problems. It is similar to myTempra-pedic for $100 however a bit denser. This ergonomic neck pillow arrived much larger than I was anticipating (which I was grateful for since I have a california king bed for my husband -but I'm only 5'4" and 135lbs.) I'd been suffering from neck pain and radiculopathy for several months prior to purchasing this pillow and had attempted all other therapeutic modalities, minus accupuncture, for relief. I had also purchased several other pillows and without success, I continued to remain in pain. I do agree with the other reviewers, this pillow does tend to seem harder than preferred should you be a back sleeper. However, when I'm going to sleep on my side, the pillow fits comfortably and has just the right firmness. Should you be a prone sleeper, I do not know any pillow that would be appropriate especially if you have neck issues. Also, the odor that some folks reported upon receiving their pillow, I did not notice. I have now had this pillow for two months and have noticed a significant decrease in my neck pain and radiculopathy. I do not awakened with neck discomfort like I had before and thankfully, only experience occasional neck discomfort and radiculopathy only while working. Thus, if you are a side-sleeper, I have absolutely no reservations whatsoever to recommend this pillow for you --otherwise, if you are a back or prone sleeper --keep looking, this is not the pillow for you. Hope this helps! This item has a very toxic odor. I have put 4 pillowcases on it and it still smells bad. It must be the material it is made of. I have allergies and this has not helped at all.
