Marpac BP-9006 Battery Pack

This battery pack is cheaply made but if you're careful not to strip the screws you should be ok. I read that someone else did that so I was careful not to. It works great and I will use it about half the time I use the sound machine. It is supposed to last 40 hours but I have not used it that much yet. Would I buy again? Yes but I still wish the battery option was built into the sound machine or that the battery pack was of higher quality.

Dec. 2010 update. I used this battery pack with my sound machine quite a lot to date and I think it goes well beyond 40 hours of use on one set of batteries. I used the higher capacity MAX version of Duracell and I know these do last longer. I will definitely buy this again if it ever breaks. I baby it and have had no problems with it. (side note, the drawing of the battery orientation on the inside of the unit is wrong. if you follow their drawing it will not work. you need to alternate the direction of each battery row as is usual with any device. If it does not work just turn the batteries around and it will be fine)Still love it

After taking delivery from Amazon on this and the SOund Machine, I could not find a place where the battery pack plugged in.

I use the Travel sound machine while camping. The "Surf" function makes me believe that I am camping right on the shore. It is effective at blocking out noisy people in neighboring tents. This battery pack works great, and it suits my needs. I have not abused it in any way, so I cannot comment on its durability.

Update 5/9/2010: I've now used this on over 20 camping trips. It is one durable unit (despite some rough handling). I remain completely satisfied with this item.

We ordered one of these for next day delivery when our 110 220 volt ac adapter (from Radio Shack dual voltage and lighter than the one originally supplied by Marsona) suddenly died and we didn't want to pay $31 for a new one (Marpac charges only $14.95 for an international adapter).

This is a light plastic unit measuring 2" x 6" x 7/8" that is just large enough to hold SIX x AA batteries in a two x three across configuraton. A small philips screwdriver is needed to open the back to change batteries. The correct "tip" is permanently attached to a short wire.

Weight with batteries is 7 oz; the domestic ac adapter supplied with our Marpac unit (don't know what they are supplying now) weighs almost 9 oz and the dual voltage weighs over 10 oz.

With a new set of premium batteries, the pack ran for 9 nights and started losing power and pulsing erratically sometime during the 10th (figure between 75 and 80 toal hours at almost full volume).

Summary: If you have the Marsona sound machine, use it only for travel a week or so at a time (and hopefully buy batteries in bulk), this is a very useful addition.

I'm addicted to my sound machine. I bought this after we lost power for 2 days last summer. I couldn't sleep without my white noise! When our power went out again we just plugged this in and we were asleep in no time! lasted all night no problem.

As other reviewers saidthe only downside is that you have to have a tiny screwdriver to unscrew the back to insert the batteries. Why can't they just have a latch of some kind?
