Gaia Herbs Valerian Root, 60-capsule Bottle

This is one of the most potent valerian root my wife and I've tried. In fact it was so strong even for my 200 lb medium built frame that taking two knocked me out within 15 minutes. It does work well to relax the muscles but for many one capsule just may be enough.

Comparing with "Formula 303", I would recommend this Gaia brand. The 303 worked good but it wasn't until we ran out and had to get something in a pinch where this capsule (easier to swallow) did much better job. At first it was strong enough my wife wanted to just go back on 303 but just using one, she's able to sleep through the better.

Of course everyone responds differently with any herbs and supplements but it's usually smart to just start out with a low dosage and don't go over the recommended amount. Even I only take one capsule when I need to really relax my muscles if I had a long day or worked out hard.

Let me start by saying I am not questioning the efficacy of this herb on those who gave this a positive review, nor am I suggesting that their experience is simply a matter of placebo effect. I assume that when it comes to herbal remedies, the effects are subtle enough that people's experience differ greatly. That said, these did nothing for me. Nada. Even ramped up to three and there was no noticeable effect. As I said, this is just one man's experience, but these reviews aren't useful if only people with positive experiences write them, so I wanted to add my experience to the mix of reviews so that people can have realistic expectations about the probability of this working for them.
