So, what caught my attention was the day I took my kids to an amusement park with lots of roller coaster rides. On that day, I broke all of my previous records for number of steps, number of flights I had climbed and the overall activity. Sure, I was very active that day, trying to keep up with my teenage and preteen boys. But, over 50 thousand steps? I don't think so. So I figured since I had the Fitbit attached to the inside of my pocket, it was most likely that it picked up every vibration I was subject to during on the rides. It also had measured all the changes in elevation, again because I was on roller-coasters all day and I was going up and down and my stomach was turning as my internal organs were being re-arranged. Ok, you guessed it, it was SixFlags.
And, guess what? At the gym and when I needed to know how many flights of stairs I had climbed on the stepper the Fitbit fails every single time. The explanation is very simple. The Fitbit is designed to measure change of elevation based on the gyro-sensor inside. When you are on the stepper, you are physically not changing elevation, you are almost stuck at one level of elevation the entire time. Plus and minus the times you lose your rhythm because the person next to you decides to let go of some gas. And yes, I did clip it on my socks, and my shoes several times to see if I get any change in reading. No change. When the Stepper machine tells me I have climbed 60 flights, the Fitbit gives me 5 to 6 lights on average.
Otherwise, it is an awesome looking, expensive Pedometer. Sorry Fitbit, I wish you had a posted a phone number on your website for customers like myself to call and ask questions to be able to better understand and use the not so cheap investment I made when I bought your product.

I get this through a work wellness program and really think that it is a great tool for tracking what you are doing each day. I use it with fitness pal where I track what I eat throughout the day and together they adjust my allowed calorie intake. You can also track food on your fitbit dashboard online, but I have the fitness pal app on my android phone and am more familiar with it so enter food there.Pros simple to set up use, syncs automatically, holds a charge for several days, tracking graphs and stats are very helpful, more accurate than a pedometer in giving you "credit" for the calories you are burning (Example climbing stairs is recognised as climbing not just the number of steps that you took), weekly status reports in email, online information and trouble shooting easy to access and understandable.
Cons good thing that it is easy to set up because instructions that come in the box say nothing helpful mostly just pictures (reason for the 4 stars instead of 5), cannot sync automatically with the android phones yet only on the iPhones (they say on their web site that they are currently working on it)
Overall really love this and have recommended it to several friends and family members. I plan to give a couple of them as gifts through the coming year too.

The problem with the Fitbit tracker is that it's too easy to lose. I have lost two trackers (Ultra and One) because they do not stay clipped on especially when you exercise which is the whole point, right? I love the Fitbit and find it helps with motivation, but losing them is a deal breaker. Not sure I'll spring for a third. I cannot imagine someone hanging on to a tracker for more than a few months. tried different apps and nothing worked. very accurate and easy to use and set up. comfortable to wear and I almost forget that I have it on. Worth the price
