This item is terrific. It holds heat (or cold!) long enough to help, but not too long, which means you can't hurt yourself with it. The flax seed is supportive without being constrictive, and it smells nice too. I have frequent trouble with my neck and shoulders, and the Neck Pillow is my first line of defense.

When I ordered this neck-wrap I believed it would smell the way previous neck-wraps I've owned have herbal, soothing, relaxing. While this wrap can get really, really warm, and while it's very comfortable around the neck, it stinks like dog's butt. It stinks so badly I have to purposefully try and concentrate on something else while wearing it. If you've never spelled warm flax seed (which smells like warm something else), I don't suggest it. Find something that's both comfortable and sweet smelling.

These flax pillows are great. We now own two (had to get the second so we each had one). The first one is several years old and still works great after a lot of use. Not only are they super for taming stiff neck and shoulders (my massage therapist reccommended a moist heating pad in the first place and that's how we ended up with the flax pillow) but they are also great for pre heating the bed (warm flax can be more soporific than a sleeping pill on a c-c-c-cold night)and for taking the chill off of the feet (in the bed). We like the nutty flaxy smell too.

I had a bucky neck pillow I wanted to substitute because I had nuked it one too many times (but I loved it and used it for a year before the burn holes made it unusable--and I couldn't get free shipping on it) and this seemed like a great one to try. I was so excited to put it to use and I read the reviews about smell and thought how bad could it be? It's really strong and to me makes me nauseous. I had bought 2 to give one as gift but will have to return! I cannot get past the smell!! I can't even describe it. It also is heavier than what I expected .Sorry I really was rooting for this!

I bought this because a friend had a similar neck roll. This one is slightly different because it is filled with flax (the other one has some kind of beans).

The flax smell is a little off putting to some people, like my wife, but I don't mind it. If you have shoulder or neck pain this really works.
