I don't use for allergies. I use this as a night time sleep aid. It is akin to major brand name extra-strength sleep aids. The similarity is the active ingredient: diphenhydramine.

The key difference: name brand sleep products are 10 cents a night (for careful shoppers) to 75 cents a night (for those careless or captive-audience buyers). This bottle is under 2 cents a night. Keep in mind.. this is an extra-strength dose of diphenhydramine. Strong sleep!

The expiration date of the bottle shipped to me is just about even with when I will finish the 1000 tablets in it, so no waste. Plus, by buying a 1000 tablets, I don't have to worry about restocking for quite a while, compared to retail alternatives. Sleep aids are off my shopping radar for 2.73 years! Also, this will save me more than a $100 over retail options for that period.

I used these tabs for a month before writing this review. The sleep is outstanding! Non-addictive! Very low cost!

I've been on this SDA labs brand for over a year now. Almost finished the bottle. The price can't be beat, I thought it might be too good to be true, but I don't think so now, as it is made in the USA as well. I also like that the dose is in 50 mg. That's the dose I need and it is better to take one 50mg than two 25mg. I haven't noticed any performance difference from the other generic varieties of Benadryl I have taken in the past.

A thousand pills may seem like a lot, but I take a few daily for allergies and the "expiration date" I had was well into the future when I received the bottle. None will be wasted.

If this is the type of medication that works for your allergies, I don't see a down side to purchasing this item.

Betcha didn't know that two rather expensive and popular brand name (trademarked) products, Benadryl (marketed for allergy relief) and Nytol (to help you catch your Z's) contain identical doses (25 mg) of the exact same drug, diphenhydramine, and nothing else in terms of active ingredients. If you've bought either (or both) of these, you also know they're quite expensive per dose. (If you really want to waste money on a nonprescription sleep aid, by Zzzzzquil.... yep, 25 mg of diphenhydramine per dose.)

Well, here's a product, with twice the amount of active drug (50 mg) per capsule, that will take care of the allergies and/or insomnia of a small army, and for LOTS less money. (I thought I was buying on the cheap when I discovered Costco's 600 25 mg doses for about $8! Wow, this big bottle makes the Costco/Kirkland product look like you're paying through the dried-up allergy-plagued nose.) What a deal! In addition, the capsules are made by Sandoz, a highly reputable international pharmaceutical concern that's been around for many, many decades. And, to allay your concerns, this cheap-o product is pharmacologically equivalent, in all ways, to two of the costly 25 mg diphenhydramine tablets or capsules.

This particular formulation of diphenhydramine seems not to lend itself to sedation. This is, of course, a good thing if sedation is undesired; but one of the reasons I like DPH is its versatility, and that's reduced if the hypnotic effect is reduced (i.e., it's less helpful as a sleeping pill or for treating caffeine withdrawal). Still, effective as an antihistamine.
