This product helps to bring peace to the environment in my mind. It helps me sleep much better, it helps me calm down at night and when I do take it during the day, it just takes the edge off. I suffer from a nasty case of social anxiety and I will take one capsule on an empty stomach or before a meal and it seems to help calm my nerves. I've been having numerous health issues over the past several years. Extreme exhaustion and hair loss being just a couple of the problems I've been experiencing. These are excellent and from the minute they came out on the market, they have always been in my household. I take two anytime at night when I feel like I'm coming down with something. I not only, 99% of the time, knock out whatever was coming on, but I get a good night's sleep. Also wonderful for nights when allergies are acting up, making me feel better both that night and the next morning. I like the 40-pack because it's more economical and I don't run out of these so often. I can't say I feel any morning grogginess with these personally, but you do need to plan on getting 8-9 hours of sleep before taking these, IMHO. They're pretty easy to swallow because of the gelcap's slight softness, especially taken with milk.

I was put on pregnancy bed rest for all of my third trimester. I looked in many places for a wedge pillow that would let me sit up in my bed and work on the laptop or read. The doctor's orders were that I need to be in an incline if I sit up at all. All other wedge pillows I looked at seemed to be either too narrow or short. I took a chance with this one and it turned out perfect! Since I needed something that would let me work in bed, I couldn't purchase one of those bed rest pillows that have arms. Not a bad little machine. The sound loop for the 6 sounds is pretty good, if you listen (actually listen) to the loop, you can find where it starts repeating. The only thing I didn't like about this machine is that the lights for the on/off and timer are a bit bright! I solve this by putting a small towel over the area. Also, you have to remember to shut it off, or the batteries will wear out quickly! (I'm in Europe and can't use the AC plug.) Other than this, I would recommend it for people who want to either block out surrounding sounds (from outside mostly) or don't like to fall asleep with total quiet.

A fine little machine. Does what it says it should do and does it well. There are a variety of quality sounds all relaxing. The heartbeat sound is a bit creepy, but for some that may be ok. The sounds of the ocean are our favorite, though you do hear seagulls in the background. The sound quality is excellent and fills a room nicely. The addition of the timer or unlimited play is helpful. A good little machine.

Our family has really benefitted from this white noise machine. We love it because it helps our baby son sleep soundly in our house and it makes a new environment feel familiar to him since we take it with us wherever we go for overnight trips. During nap time, it drowns out the dog's barking and he sleeps right through ringing phones, conversation noise and traffic noise too. When I'm in need of an emergency nap, I use it myself to help shush away thoughts and songs stuck in my head...or just noise around the house that might distract me from getting a few zzzzz-s. I've bought this item for a few "new mama" friends and they love it too. It's better than other brands because the volume goes pretty high, which is necessary for an infant who actually prefers a noisy sleeping environment. We had one before this one, and it was way too gentle and quiet. As soon as we switched to the Homedics brand, our baby's sleeping changed for the better! The only thing that could be improved about this product is that the cord is pretty sensitive and if it's not firmly connected to the wall or the unit, it will sometimes cut off with no warning.

When we received our first item, the volume knob was "crackly" and you had to jiggle it to get it to work. We sent it back to Amazon and received a replacement. The replacement worked fine for about 6 months, and started to have the same problem. This problem doesn't kill the machine, you can use Radio Shack's Tuner Lubricant to spray the contacts and get it to work again. The quality of the potentiometer is quite low, however, and if you don't want to have to do maintenance, I'd suggest looking around for another machine.

Smooth Sleepers - 3 Month Supply

I have had issues with what I call raccoon eyes, not due to dark circles, but because I sleep on my side and press my face into the pillow I get these weird creases around the bottom of the eyes that looks like a mask to me. Recently, upon waking my side sleeper creases appear deeper and more permanent, as I have aged the wrinkles have begun to stay all day, eek.

Note: they are a little tricky to peal off and put on...especially regarding placement. Read directions, go slow because you could potentially waste a few. Also, I use a little water on my fingers in the morning to remove them because they can pull a bit on the skin. It almost feels like the tacky side lifts up a layer of dead skin cells, so be careful not to pull or yank off too quickly.

My skin around the eyes is smoother in the morning and the creases around my eyes look better all day. There is still a hint of the wrinkles that were there before, but I look much better. I would love an all over the face peel off mask of sorts too I could use once a week.

Pillowsonic Stereo Pillow Speaker

Pillow speakers.... what a great idea!

Especially for self help, subliminal tapes etc. Even for sunbathing !

I've tried several pillow speakers in the quest for better sound quality AND comfort.

Apparently a difficult combination to attain for many manufacturers.

I began my quest by purchasing one of the first offerings, a standard size bed pillow, in which the speakers were embedded. A cord was attached to the pillow to connect to your device (walkman, in my case).

Afer several uses, (not that many) the speakers would cut out & crackle when I moved the cord.

Ended up as spare pillow sans speaker :o(

Next, I tried the standard $6 radio shack pillow speaker, which was actually rather sturdy, round & had a handy volume control (similar to the Sharper Image pillow speaker). Excellent for travel, but the sound quality really sucked, really tiny AND really tinny AND it really feels like there is a rock under your pillow.

After much searching, I came across the PillowSonic digital stereo pillow speaker insert, purchased for $19 from the manufacturer's website.

I received a free relaxation CD as they were running a promo at the time

I think PillowSonic has nailed it.

The cushioned pillow insert contains TWO speakers providing stereo sound (from both sides of the pillow). Surprisingly clear, quite adequate, although we are not talking Bose quality. Not too shabby.

The pillow sleeve itself is rather soft & cushioned well enough where the metal edges of the speakers are not annoying to your ears through your pillow. Unlike the hard plastic radio shack unit... (aka little rock);

PillowSonic is quite comfortable; you can barely feel the speakers.

I slide it into my pillowcase, underneath my pillow & cannot feel it.

Easy to pack & travel as well.

The only disadvantage I encountered was the lack of volume control on the cord or unit. You must use the volume control on your audio device, which is kind of a pain. However, the cord is approx 6', so your device should be close enough to adjust the volume.

Each of the pillow speakers I tried had disadvantages.

Personally, I'd rather have the better sound quality, so I'll sacrifice the volume control.

Of course, my puppy promptly chewed up the connection wire, so I guess I'll be purchasing another... Dare I hope the designers have upgraded the unit & included volume controls?

Original Review:

This product is essentially two very flat speakers, but not that different from those in your headphones, inserted into a rectangular pocket of foam. There are hard pieces in the pillow speaker, but there is enough foam in front of it, that you can sleep on it comfortably, as the back of the speaker just presses further into your pillow.

I cannot use this underneath my pillow as I have a tempurpedic memory foam pillow its just too dense to hear the speaker well even at the highest volume but a regular pillow would work much better.

However, I put this right on top of my pillow and put my ear on top of it, it works great, I tend to keep it at the highest volume and just adjust the distance of the pillow to my ear depending on how loud I want to perceive it, the speakers do not have a volume on them (that would be a nice feature). I've slept on this every night for 7 months and no visible wear or tear has appeared.

The only drawback is that the pillow has two plastic tabs similar the small end of a plastic tag holder that holds a price tag to your new clothes on the front, and that scratches my face, I cut it off though with no apparent repercussions, I'm not sure what purpose they served, perhaps to hold wires in place.

Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for as I need to listen to something to fall asleep, but with kids and husband often sleeping in the same room, I don't want to play it on a regular speaker.

UPDATE 11/7/2011:

So I originally purchased these speakers in 2007. I have used a pillowsonic speaker every single night to fall asleep since then. Unfortunately I'd love to say that my original pillowsonic speaker is still going strong, but that's not the case. I don't remember the exact timeline, but after a while the original speaker ended up with one of the wires going to one of the speakers detaching, so only 1/2 worked, then eventually it quit altogether. I purchased another one and it had the same eventual problem. I'm now on my third. However, this is over 4 years of literally laying on the pillow speaker (because as I said above, I can't put it under my pillow) all night long and the speaker gets yanked around by the cord a lot and shoved into pillowcases and suitcases for travel. Listening to an audio book to fall asleep is just about the only thing I have found that works for my insomnia.

So, although I've had to replace it a couple times, I am not displeased with the amount of time each has lasted, given the price and how hard I am on them.

I listen to a relaxation CD while in bed and have not liked doing so while using headphones. The reason being that they are uncomfortable if one falls asleep while listening. Also, the sound in the rest of the house is blocked out. The Pillowsonic Pillow Speaker is the perfect solution. You do have to adjust your head a bit otherwise its muffled. It took me a few days to position it correctly under the pillow. I put it at a 45 degree angle and it worked perfectly. However, after about a month of use its starting to die on me. One of the speakers is really fissling out, and the other one is starting to fade as well. Its more irritating than "soothing". I would not buy this particular product again.

I purchased a "pillow speaker" a couple of weeks ago and it was terrible. It was one mono speaker attached to a 3/4" jack and would not get loud enough to hear throug my pillow. This pillowsonic stereo speaker however is much better! It's stereo for one and way loud enough also. To be realistic though, the sound is somewhat muffled. The way to get around this is to set your equilizer, if you have one, with higher mids and lower the bass. I use the "bass reducer" setting on iTunes and it sounds great!

I've been taking BE HOT for awhile now and as one who was frustrated by reading vague reviews, I thought I'd come back and share my experiences with you so that you'll know what you're getting from this product. So far I've been taking BE HOT for 40 days now and so far I've lost 12 lbs! That may not seem like much to most people but for someone who was barely able to lose 3 lbs, I was excited! Energy boost without the jittery feeling The first thing you should know about this product is that even though you will feel a boost in energy, it probably won't be right away. For me, I felt the energy boost on the 2nd day. Even so, once you get the energy boost it will NOT be of the jittery variety (which I appreciate) but one where you'll feel like you can get a lot done in one day! If you're not already high energy or you're not a morning person, this will be a gem to you as you may notice that you're able to get up earlier and earlier without struggling which for me is a good thing.

Exercise and other efforts Another point worth noting is that this is not one of those products that you can take without exercising. I've read countless reviews from people who seem to believe that once they take a pill their pounds should magically melt away. As with most thermogenic weight-loss products, this product is meant to ASSIST you with your weight loss but not do the whole thing for you. When I took this I made sure that I ate the equivalent of 500 calories less than what my body burns in a day (for me this came out to be 1200 calories) and I spread those calories out throughout the day. I drank a lot of water (kept it at my desk )and even though I can't stand to drink water this product made me want to which was good and I also tried to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night for the sake a recuperation. As for working out, like the literature says if you take this while you're working out, it will enhance the fat burn. So even though you might think that you're only burning 300 calories you're really burning more. So the one thing I didn't have to do is work as hard as I would need to if I wasn't taking it. For instance, I didn't have to run 3 miles on the treadmill in order to lose weight. Instead I would WALK for 30 minutes on the treadmill at about 3.0 3.5 mph, go to work at my sedentary (desk) job and maybe I would do another half an hour after work (but sometimes I would skip that). Even with that small effort within two days I would usually see weight loss. This is not something that I could've done without this product. However, if I didn't do any exercise while taking this product then I didn't lose any weight so that's the point I'm trying to make. In order to get results from this product you do have to do some things for yourself. So here are-

* A more thorough supplement for the money Although it is advisable for you to take a multivitamin along with this product, it still provides a great deal for the money. There's a thermogenic pill for energy, a pill for definition and a pill for overall skin health. I've noticed more energy with the thermogenic, definition in my body from doing the simplest of exercises and I've noticed significant fat loss in my

ab area (which I attribute to the CLA in the product). I don't know too many products that would give you all of that at the same time!

* Pills are already separated by dosage You don't have to separate pills each morning and put it in your own container. All the pills you need to take that day are already separated in packs so all you have to do is grab a pack, drop it in your bag and go!

THE CONS

* If you don't exercise and you don't create a calorie deficit (which is pretty much many calories your body burns when you're resting minus 500 calories per day) you will not lose weight. Period.

* You will have to take five pills a day and two of the pills (the pink and gold ones) are pretty big.

When I purchased this at GNC it cost around 40 something dollars but with my GNC card it only cost me $35 for a month's supply. At the end of the first month I thought about what would happen if I bought these products separately (a thermogenic , Omega 3 pills and CLA) but I quickly realized that to buy all of them separately would cost more than if I just purchased the Be Well packs. So bottom line is that it's a pretty thorough product and I would recommend this to anyone who is already considering putting in the effort to lose weight.

I've always had a sensitivity to diet pills and energy enhancing products. I can't even take too many regular vitamins at one time. This pack is great. As long as you don't take them on an empty stomach (I take them with a protein shake in the morning) they will be good to you. I don't get the shakes or sickly. I love that this is a healthy approach to toning up. I agree that this is not an intense diet pill that will make you loose weight without diet and exercise. However I was doing diet and exercise and noticed more defined results when taking the "be hot" packs. Oddly, I rarely noticed a "burst of energy" and it didn't make me want more water. But I saw more dramatic results from my workout effort. I had a long enough lapse in between boxes to realize I do better taking these. Homeostasis Labs Stress Relief, 50-Count

I have chewed these a couple of times when I was very restless. I don't think it was a placebo effect, but I definitely relaxed after taking them. Normally I am so highly skeptical of any type of medication that there is seldom a placebo effect. In fact I normally dismiss any kind of effect at all unless it knocks my socks off. So that being said, I didn't pass out or feel super groovy, but I did notice a reduced edge to the nerves and stress. It won't replace valium, but if this works for you, it is probably far healthier!

Well I'm not really sure if this works or not, but every time I take them, I do feel a sense of calm come over me after about 15 minutes or so. One thing I do like about them is, unlike other homeopaths I've tried, the instructions don't make a big deal about how to handle the pills themselves. One last thing I'd like to mention that I liked as well, is the box itself it has a neat slide-out feature, which I like prefer over the standard plastic bottles like other homeopaths I've used.

I should start by saying that I use homeopathic medicines on a regular basis. I believe in them, but not all of them work for me. Arnica works for me. Traumeel works amazingly for me. For stress relief, I usually use flower essences (Rescue Remedy), but I thought I would give this a try as an alternative. I found the packaging of this brand to be frustratingly difficult to open and use. The tablets do not come out easily and the packaging is big and offers no protection from the moisture/humidity of our sub-tropical climate. I've been chewing on these things for about a week now, and, as far as I can tell, their effectiveness is relatively mild. There does seem to be a calming effect, but I still feel on the verge of an ulcer most days. In fairness I should add that I'm at a particularly stressful juncture, currently preparing to graduate/begin graduate studies, with not enough hours in the day to finish the umpteen projects I need to have finished within the next 3 weeks.

One thing I will give them credit for is helping me to sleep sounder at night. For a couple of years now I've not been able to sleep without some type of over-the-counter sleep product. But even using those my mind becomes instantly restless when I lie down, and I'm prone to wake up several times throughout the night. Since taking these I have noticed that I'm not waking up at odd hours in the morning and my mind doesn't race as fast when my head hits the pillow. I've slept much more peacefully these last few nights. They wouldn't get the job done alone, but they seem to work well as part of a combo.

This supplement made me feel relaxed, but almost sleepy, so I wasn't trilled with it. It made me too sleepy. Also, I am used homeopathic medicine that are small ball pills that you put under your tongue and let dissolve, but this medication you actually chew and let dissolve. In addition, most homepathic medicine should be placed directly from the dispenser under your tongue. This medication has a difficult dispenser and the pills are rather large and seem to have a lot of unnecessary filler. I use UNDA (which I get from my Naturalpathic Physician) and Boiron, both of which are my preference over the Homeostatis Labs product.

doTerra Serenity Blend - Calming Blend

I love this blend! I use it for perfume mainly because it has the most amazing smell. not to overpowering like lavender can be sometimes but you can still smell it in there.

This oil blend is for calming but won't make you drowsy as some ppl may think. I've had people tell me that they were feeling tense and then I came near them and they smelled the oils and it calmed their nerves. It wasn't me, I swear! haha

I ordered this because my daughter (8 months old) was having a tough time getting to sleep, waking frequently, and having trouble going back to sleep. We wanted to develop a better bedtime routine.

I asked my Facebook friends if anyone had tried the Tranquil Turtle Sleep Machine and nobody had but someone recommended putting this oil on the soles of my daughter's feet at bedtime.

I decided to try both. So, now we 1. go potty; 2. change into jammies; 2. rub a drop of Serenity oil on each foot (or if she is wearing jammies with feet I put it on her wrists); 3. read stories, always ending with Goodnight Moon; 4. say goodnight to Dada and Chalcy (the dog); 5. turn on the Tranquil Turtle; 6. lay her down on her floor bed and nurse until she is almost or completely asleep.

When we first started using the oil the smell seemed too busy to me...I felt like I kept trying to figure out what the scent was (which, it's a blend, so it's a lot of things), and it had kind of an overly sweet smell, I thought. I didn't really care for it. We've been doing this for almost a month now, I think, and now I like the scent. It just smells like "bedtime" to us. I think my daughter likes it too. Bed time is not a LOT better...this didn't magically help her go to sleep and stay asleep all night, unfortunately. But it is better than before. She wakes less.

Overall, I don't know whether it calms us or not, but it is pleasant, and a nice addition to our routine.
