Philips goLITE BLU Light Therapy Device

Philips goLITE BLU Light Therapy DeviceThe manual that comes with the goLITE states that it could help alleviate the so-called winter blues depressions, help with jet lag and allow shift workers better adjust to their unusual schedules. The theory claims that exposure to bright blue light tricks our body into producing producing certain hormones that make us feel more alert and energetic and inhibits the production of hormones that make us sleepy. Some people who feel depressed and exhausted in winter time because there's not much bright light may respond favorably to light therapy. goLITE is a light therapy device.

The light:

----------

It's really, really bright. For those familiar with LED flashlights, think of it this way: a decent LED flashlight device has about 3 LEDs. The goLITE has SIXTY. Therefore, think of TWENTY flashlights bright, when used at maximum intensity. That IS bright. It's so bright, you are not supposed to stare at it directly. I did and my eyes hurt for about half an hour after that. Thankfully, the intensity is adjustable in increments of 25% with the 50% setting being recommended for starters.

The therapy:

------------

The manual recommends 15-30 minute sessions with the light bathing your face from the side, at about eye level. The light therapists believe that the best times to use it are in the morning but, for those who, like me, feel sleepy in the afternoon, an afternoon session could also be beneficial. I normally use it early in the morning, with my breakfast and every time I exercise, which is the evening-afternoon.

The controls:

-------------

A touch LCD panel allows the user to set the clock, the timer, the alarm and the light intensity. The most needed functions: the timer and the light adjuster are easy to set. For the others, you may need a manual to remind you that, for example, if you really, really want to switch between the 12-hour to the 24-hour time format you must press and hold both the TIMER and the MINUS buttons for 2 seconds. So, don't lose the manual.

The build:

----------

The goLITE has a definite durable, solid, 'high end' feeling. A protective case/sleeve is included. There is also a charger. A small metallic 'stand' is held magnetically inside its own depression in the back of the body. The small manual is informative and only 20-30% of it is regulation-mandated nonsense or technical mumbo-jumbo graphs. The rechargeable battery can not be replaced. The manufacturer expects the goLITE to last for about 50 years if used for 30 minutes per day, every day. A fully charged device should be able to run on battery for at least 3-4 sessions.

The ergonomics:

---------------

I appreciate the small size because I am taking it with me to office. It fits easily inside my laptop bag. The carrying case is well made. My only problem and this is where goLITE is losing one star is the placement of the controls on the same side with the lights. Like I said, staring directly at the lights is not pleasant and, the way the controls work, accidentally touching the PLUS button WILL turn the light on. It would be A LOT better if the LCD panel was located on the back. It might have even allowed for a smaller device.

The effectiveness:

------------------

I can now testify that, after more than three months through a long winter I feel happier and more optimistic now than at the same time a year ago. Normally by early March I have that feel of exhaustion and the 'will this winter ever go away?' type of thoughts. Not this year. I do wish for the winter to go away but I seem to feel more energized and less negative.

The battery life:

-----------------

The manual claims that you could use the goLITE for about 4 sessions on one charge. I am pleased to note that, after 3-4 months of use I can use it for 6-8 sessions on one charge. They are 20 minute sessions with the light at 100% intensity.

The rating:

-----------

I appreciate the quality of the build, the brightness of the light and the fact that I can do several therapy sessions before having to recharge. This is a good light therapy device.

The very small negatives are all related to the LCD control panel. Certain functions can not be intuitively invoked and, once the manual is lost, may give the end-user some headaches. The other small negative is the placement of the LCD control panel. Think of it this way: you would not like a gun that was build in a way that forced you to stare at the barrel while loading it, right? Similarly, it would be a lot better if you didn't have to stare at sixty LED that could turn themselves on at any time while you are struggling with setting up the timer. However, once the goLITE is set up, I rarely change the setting so this is a very rare inconvenience.

So after reading these reviews on Amazon.com, I was initially VERY skeptical about this product working. Most of these reviews come from people in the Vine program or the reviews were being released rapidly over a short time period and that had me very doubtful. But before I go into that, let me give you a little background on my personal story. I am 21 years old, Asian-American (maybe I'm not adjusted for the long winters in Vermont and I've been having sleep problems since the age of 17 or 18.

For years, I would sleep in and miss classes, and would generally feel chronically fatigued and apathetic. My problem got pretty bad to the point that I would miss important meetings or events. I was focused, and hardworking but I just could not wake up on time (and go to bed on time either)! I would go to bed at say 11 PM, yet I would still wake up at 12 PM or 1 PM the next day. I would be like what the hell. So then over this winter break (where I had a good 5 weeks off), I started letting myself go to bed at the time my body NATURALLY fell asleep (not when I *wanted* to). I found that I was going to bed at 3 AM. And what happened? I STILL woke up at 11 AM!!!! What did this show me? That I WAS getting 8 hours of sleep BUT it was at a later time (hence going to bed at 11 PM didn't do anything because I really wasn't falling asleep until 3-4 AM in the morning).

So why did this happen? Why did my sleep schedule get delayed (this problem is called DSPS or delayed sleep phase syndrome --it's nothing serious it's just a big pain when trying to function in society --my primary care physician referred me to a sleep MD who diagnosed me with this as well.)? Well in high school I had bad habits. I would go to bed late playing VIDEO GAMES, watching TV, doing intellectually stimulating activities that would make me stay up late. Also the summer before college started, I had a job where I was working as a waiter at night (4 PM-10 PM) or (6 PM-1 AM), and thus I was sleeping later. I guess all of this carried through college and in grad. school (modern day society makes it difficult to live a natural technological-independent state huh?)

Anyways, before I digress any further, this winter break, I let my body go to bed when it wanted too. But then something bad happened. I was going to bed later and later every day (going to bed at 8 AM!!!). And thus, I would end up sleeping my 8 hours during the DAY!!! It was terrible. So I looked into chronotherapy, and I did something where I would go to bed a little bit later every day (so instead of going to bed at 8 am the next day, I would go to bed at 11 am, then 2 PM, then 5 PM, then eventually 8 PM), and let me assure you it wasn't fun.

So my doctor recommended me this product which piqued my interest and I eventually found this product here on Amazon (Apollo was the company that makes these products, but Philips bought them over). Immediately after a few sessions, I found that I was waking up at 5-6 AM NATURALLY and going to bed at 9-10 PM PHYSICALLY/EYELID HEAVY SLEEPY. I also felt happier too and the reason why this happens is that the blue light increases the production of SERATONIN (the happy go-lucky hormone that is low in depression, etc).

I'm a grad. student in Biology, and I'll briefly go into the details of the basic physiology of blue light. Basically, your eye's retina (a thin membrane at the back of the eye-ball) has a couple of receptors. The ones you've probably heard of were the rod and cones. Well, there's another one called the "MELANOPSIN" photoreceptor that scientists about 10 years ago discovered. And these are on the edges of the retina (not centric like the rods and cones). These melanopsin photoreceptors absorb light of a specific wavelength and that is BLUE (460-480 nm). Older light boxes used white light (which contained blue light) that mimicked light from the sun, but apparently those are superbright. So why can't you use a regular old BLUE lightBULB then? I don't really know maybe someone can comment on this as I'm not a physicist.

Other notes: This thing is expensive, so if you want something a BIT cheaper you can go with the slightly older Philips/Apollo units some of them are as low as $80.P You might be able to make a deduction on this unit with your health insurance or through your taxes, just a heads up, but I'm not 100% as of yet.

If you have problems waking up on time, have chronic fatigue, depression, SAD, ciracadian rhythm disorders, then this is worth a shot. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but after doing some experiments, I don't believe that this was a placebo affect. N=1 though, so take what I say and everything on Amazon.com with a grain of salt.

i've been battling sleep issues for many years.

here are my issues...i would get into bed around 11pm and would just lay there tossing and turning. i just could not fall asleep. sometimes i would look at the clock and it's 3am...sometimes 4am. then i would fall asleep and then have my alarm set to 730am b/c i had to go to work. most days i would snooze every 10 mins from 730 to 830 just to sneak in a little more sleep.

it was terrible. i was tired all day long. and the lack of sleep really effected me both physically and mentally.

on weekends...i would fall asleep at 4am or so and then would be able to sleep until 11am or noon. but then the bad cycle started again sunday night as i had work monday morning.

i self diagnosed myself with having DSPS (delayed sleep phase syndrome) where my internal clock was all shifted up about 5 or 6 hours.

i have been suffering with this for so many years. i tried warm milk. i tried soothing music. i even tried lunesta/ambien for a few days with no help.

then i found this item on the internet.

the first day, saturday, i set the alarm for 930am. woke up and sat with the light for 30 mins. sunday, i set the alarm to 830am and sat with the light for another 30 mins. monday, i set it for 730am and sat with it again.

by the end of the week, i was falling asleep within minutes of hitting the bed at 11pm. i was naturally waking up even 10 mins before the alarm would go on.

i could not believe what was going on. after 5 days with this little piece of machinery, my sleep issues have been fixed.

i'm now 3 weeks into it waking up every day at 615am after falling asleep at 11. that's 7+ hours of sleep. i still can't believe it. i do sometimes wake up in the middle of the night after an intense dream but fall back asleep within minutes.

i now only use this about 15 mins in the morning and my days are now normal. i have a ton of energy in the morning and am falling asleep when i need to.

i am not a morning person. i don't think you understand just how badly i suffered trying to get up every day. and this thing fixed it. heck, i woke up today at 6am and worked out for an hour before coming into work.

highly recommended!!!

Wow! That's too good to be true. If the effects will continue I'll call it life changing!

Want Philips goLITE BLU Light Therapy Device Discount?

Many people feel a little less energetic in the winter, while others get the winter blues. It has been shown that the decrease in natural sunlight may be the culprit in this seasonal change on our bodies. In fact, it has a name Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD).

The Philips goLITE BLU light is designed to help sufferers of SAD by mimicking the effect that the sun has on your body.

A few pointers tips about the light (Many were not included in my video)-

It uses all LEDs therefore it is very unlikely that any of the "bulbs" will burn out.

LEDs generate much less heat than other forms of light, so there is a very low risk of fire.

You must (on occasion) look into periphery of the light. The effect of the light works through your EYES and not your skin, therefore you must glance directly into the light (about once a minute for me).

The unit MUST be charged for 8 eight hour prior to the initial use.

There is no access into the unit meaning there are no screws or bolts that can be used to access the light, batteries...etc.

Surprisingly small probably measures 8"x8"x1" and weighs less than 2lbs.

Has a built in alarm feature.

Do not use two hours before you go to bed, since your hormonal response to the light may keep you from sleeping.

Built in timer lets you preset how long you want the light to operate (up to 1 hour)

Final verdict the Philips goLITE BLU is well designed and has loads of built in functionality. While it is not it not inexpensive it may very well hold the key to helping you feel more energetic in the winter months.

4 1/2 stars.

Patented, Ingenious Dreamcatcher Quiet Sleep Mask/Pillow (with sound block foam, secret pockets, chi

Patented, Ingenious Dreamcatcher Quiet Sleep Mask/PillowDesperate to sleep in the same bed as a snoring spouse, I've tried it all (including prescriptions, which I hate). I'll be back in a few months to update my review, but thought others could use my first-time experience with the product in their consideration, so as to know what to expect straight out of the box. Disclaimer: I'm an "extremely" light sleeper.

Though mostly comfortable, the Dreamcatcher Sleep Mask Sound Blocking Pillow will take some time to get used to wearing. As it clearly states, it does not in any way "block" out noise, nor does it, in my opinion, even muffle sound. If this is what you're looking for, keep looking or use it with other products like ear plugs, etc. Ear plugs make my ears ache by morning so I didn't use them in conjunction with this mask. I'm also concerned the "helmet" will be too hot to wear in the summer, but in rainy, cool (55 degree) spring weather, it wasn't a problem.

I have long, thick hair so I found wearing it as pictured, over my hair was too uncomfortable, but having my hair come up and out the top seemed acceptable and I was able to fall asleep quickly, though I didn't stay asleep for long. The eye-patch area is not light blocking as I expected it to be (other eye masks do the job much better), as it's just thin fabric and would have been better if it was padded to fit snugly over the nose and at the base of the eyes so as you're laying, no light can invade where it currently lays loosely over the face no matter how much adjusting is done with the wrap-around blocking pillow's velcro or the velcro attached chin strap.

$30.00 is a lot of money to spend on something that doesn't do for you what you're looking to accomplish. Ear plugs and less expensive eye masks do a much better job, but for me, they are not comfortable enough.

I'm perplexed by the advertising saying I can use it for id's and credit cards. I can't think of a single reason why on earth I would want to use it as such and their marketing or development team have wasted their time touting this (IMO, useless) feature.

So for now, I'll keep trying to work with it, but it's not as convenient in its sheer size compared to other eye masks, comfortable, or depriving in sound and light as I was hoping for. After some time with the mask, working with it, adjusting it, tweaking it, I'll update my review with those findings.

I am a light sleeper. Ive tried many holistic herbal remedies, including melatonin, and nothing helped. Also I travel ALLOT. Due to my crazy work schedule, I simply need to catch up on sleep while flying. This product may look kinda goofy but it really works! It is now mandatory that i go to sleep wearing my dreamcatcher. I wake up feeling rested, I do not wake up in the middle of the night. My skylight in my apartment doesn't effect my sleep schedule now. I now have the luxury of getting a few extra hours sleep on the airplane ! THANK GOD! Recently i have tried experimenting with mediation while wearing this product. IT WORKS

I was interested in the concept of the Dream Helmet so I bought one off their website. To keep it short, it was not comfortable to wear when put on snugly. It put too much pressure at the bridge of my nose. And whether it's worn loose or snug, one can see outside of the eye mask portion which defeats the "light-blocking" feature. The "noise-blocking" feature is non-existent. I won't be returning it due to their policy and 30% disposal fee.

I bought this for my husband, as he likes to sleep with a heavy pillow over his head to block out light and sound. He loved the idea of it but discovered that the entire wrap-around design made his head sweat at night. So it only got used once.

There are pillows out now with cooling gel layers in them...maybe this product could be improved by a gel cushioning/sound blocking layer? It might be more effective at blocking out sound, and be cooler. Also, there isn't a need to have it fully cover the back of the head. Maybe that part could be a stretchy mesh or some other design that allows some air circulation.

The idea is a great one, and if you don't sleep hot, this would be ideal for closing out the world. I also like the idea of using it while camping, because that is a time when the head can feel cold outside the sleeping bag, and it would block out moonlight and some "creepy" noises.

I also agree with the reviewer who said the credit card pocket was overkill. I think it gives it an "As Seen on TV" feel..."but wait, there's MORE!"

I like this product, very nice, I actually got it for my mother a 67 years old Lady.Since the moment I saw it, I like it. When she is sitting watching TV and she falls asleep the pillow protects her neck. It also has little pockets where she can put important things, like her pills so she won't forget. The fabric is very soft.

ResMed Universal Headgear (Medium)

ResMed Universal HeadgearThis is a good sturdy replacement for a worn CPAP headgear strap. Easy to adjust and holds the face assembly tightly to your nose and mouth. As with all this stuff, though, the cost is excessive; over $30 for a couple of straps and some velcro?

This is exactly the one from the manufacturer that came with my mask. If you've used it and need another, this is a direct approach to eliminate the insurance mark up.

I've been using a CPAP for sleep apnea since 1994. Until recently my health insurance covered CPAP equipment and supplies, but with the coverage that I have now, I'm responsible for buying the supplies. I use a ResMed Ultra Mirage II mask with the ResMed headgear. As well-made as the headgear is, after a couple of years, the velcro loses its stickiness and doesn't work well. After shopping around, I found the best price for the headgear was at Amazon, so I ordered it. The item was not eligible for Prime 2-day shipping, but delivery was only five days (including a weekend) after I ordered, and the headgear was authentic ResMed.

The ResMed headgear is as good or better than any CPAP headgear I've had, and I'm very satisfied with it.

Skip Hop Changing Pad Cover

Skip Hop Changing Pad Cover, Springtime BirdieSuper cute and works well for a boys or girls room. Goes well with our tree/leaf/branches theme. Fits well after several washes.

This is a really nice, versatile changing pad cover. It fits well on the pad and doesn't slip off at all. The cover stays soft and the colors are still vibrant after washing. It seems well made I've had to replace several changing covers as the elastic wears out. This one seems to be of much better quality than less expensive brands. I love the colors and the neutral design which works in a girl or boy's room (we have both!)

MAN Sports Orotine

Vaporize 90 sgelsI finished the whole bottle and have seen some results. I didn't change my gym schedule but I did change my diet. I ate a little more junk food while taking Vaporize and my weight stayed the same the whole time. Didn't gain a single pound! I searched for reviews and people are saying that the results are not immediate and I agree. I did not take anything else with it and maintained my weight. I know from experience that without taking the Vaporize I would've gained despite the gym workouts. I intend to order another bottle and diet this time and see what happens. This is a new product so it's hard to find reviews but it's expected to be very healthy for you because of the fish oils. There are the unpleasant "fish burps" you won't like but it wasn't a big deal to me. There is no unpleasant taste to taking the pills or anything like that. Overall, I would recommend this product. As you know, not every product works for everyone. You have to keep trying until you find one that is effective for you. I say give Vaporize a shot since it's only 20 bucks.

I really advise you guys this product. Its good for supplemental to scorch and it absolutely harmless. It contains only natural ingridients

Better Breathe-SM/MED Tan Nasal Strips -100 CT- Open your nose, Breathe better and Sleep better-Reduce Snoring, You and your partner can both gets a good nights sleep - 100% Money Back GuaranteeI don't know whether I got a bad batch or if this is just an inferior product. I do understand that we get what we pay for. I've been using these for about a week now and have had only one night that the thing stayed on all night. I wash my face at bedtime and am careful to not put moisturizer on my nose just so the strips adhere better but it doesn't seem to matter with this brand. They seem to stick better to the paper than to my skin, as if they'd gotten wet then dried in the paper covering. That's what makes me wonder if it's just a bad batch. Anyway, I probably won't purchase this brand again. Bummer.

After using Breathe Right for many months, I was looking for something a little more affordable, since you can't exactly reuse nose strips and I go through one a night. I decided to take a chance on this Better Breathe brand, and I must say, I'm very impressed! Not only does it open the airways as well as Breathe Right, this nose strip has a fabric feel to it that makes it a little more comfortable than the plastic feel of Breathe Right.

As an alternative to the brand name, these are great. They're not exactly the same, though. They're more "sticky" than breathe right, which can make them a little more painful to remove in the mornings. Not a deal-breaker though. And the packaging is not as high-quality, usually not splitting properly, nor making that cool blue glow-in-the-dark effect when opening. Neither of these things make them unworthy of replacing the original breathe right strips. I only hope they don't violate some sort of patent, since I'll take anything I can to avoid paying for over-priced nasal strips and would hate to see these ones disappear.

Sound Oasis Sound Card, Spa Retreat

Sound Oasis Sound Card, Spa RetreatI wanted a sound machine after I used one in a hotel and really liked falling asleep to soothing sounds. I did a little research and decided on the Sound Oasis Sound Machine. I use it every night and switch the sounds around from time to time. My favorite two sounds are the ocean waves and the rain which I find puts me to sleep in no time at all. There are many sounds to choose from and you can get additional sound chips which are interchangeable.

It's great to fall asleep to the gentle rain, stream or waterfall sounds, they are close to white noise but with a nice ambience. The surf isn't a constant enough sound to mask out noise but it's nice otherwise. The otehr nature sounds are nice too. The music or tones or whatever it is doesn't really do anything for me, I wish the sound card was more nature sounds instead.

Buy Sound Oasis Sound Card, Spa Retreat Now

This one has variety music and nature sounds and not too few. I really enjoy the selection. I only wish the Sound Oasis would allow for programming tracks. One has to press a button to change selections. A random loop would be excellent, but it is worth it just to have the machine and this card.

This card came with my Sound Oasis 650 and I like the Spa Retreat card better than the default card installed. The rainfall and surf tracks are gentler. If I want something close to white noise, Waterfall does the trick. I also enjoy the track "Unwind," one of the music tracks. The music tracks on this card are much more relaxing than on the default card. The best part of Sound Oasis is the quality of the recordings -you don't hear skips where the tape starts again. In fact, I can't figure out where the loop begins and ends on these. The machine itself is also excellent quality, and I can play these all night without the machine breaking.

Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless Night Creme, 2-Ounce Jar

Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless Night Creme, 2-Ounce JarI have never been one to really like using night creams. Either they are too greasy, too thick, too smelly or just too unappealing. I have never found a product I would want to apply to my sometimes breakout-prone skin at night. Until I found Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless Night Cream! Read on if you want to hear about how fabulous this cream is!

I'm a huge products-user and normally use Mac (cosmetics) and Chanel. I'm very picky and particular about what I use on my face. It has to be outstanding, or I just won't use it. I have tubs of unused cosmetics and creams all which I have not liked for one reason or another.

I received this "Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless" skin night cream as a gift. I was expecting another product that I would be adding to my 'don't like' pile. Boy was I wrong! From the second I opened the jar with the beautiful silver lid -it made that wonderful 'swisshhhing' sound when it opened, to the scent of pomegranate inside the jar, I was hooked. When I put the cream on my face I was expecting it to be greasy and it wasn't at all! There is an amazing skin-tightening and smoothing effect this cream has. As soon as I put it on, it sank in my skin, and my skin felt dewy and like a babies skin. I think the combination of the pomegranate and white birch bark (anti-oxidants & skin firming) really are a miracle in a bottle.

My husband told me the next day my skin looked incredible. When I looked at my reflection in the mirror close-up, it has a look now of smooth-glass. My big pores are diminished and it looks almost airbrushed.

I LOVE THIS CREAM! I will buy this forever. I'm 34 and plan on using this to keep the wrinkles and lines at bay.

The ingredients are:

Ingredients: Pomegranate Extract -Pomegranate fruit extract, from the tree Punica granatum, contains several polyphenols and anthocyanidins which are highly antioxidant, protecting hair and skin, water, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycerin, stearic acid, sucrose distearate, alcohol denat., cetyl alcohol, sucrose stearate, punica granatum (pomegranate) extract, betula alba bark (white birch) extract, acmella oleracea (para cress) extract, lecithin, chrondrus crispus (carrageenan) extract, glucose, fragrance, xanthan gum, lactoperoxidase, sodium chloride, sodium borate, glucose oxidase

***UPDATE*** Jan. 11th, 2009

I see a few people think I am associated in some way with Burt's Bees and think it's an advertisement. I can assure you I am not. I have nothing to do with Burt's Bees at all. In fact, take a look, I just reviewed their other night cream and gave it a 3 star rating.

I have had a chance to use this moisturizer for some time now and I still love it for it's moisturizing abilities and how it makes my skin look while it's on but the scent is a bit overpowering and I have found myself looking for something else because it's hard for me to handle for much longer. I did try Burt's Bees Radiance Cream but that broke me out and I found the scent even stronger and harder to handle than Naturally Ageless. I just wish they had lightly scented moisturizers without all the scent.

I have combination skin, that is usually under the duress of nature's wrath. My skin would be dry one day, oily the next, and acne prone in between. Over the years, I have accumulated a plethora of facial products that have all seen the same fate:(collecting dust in a box at the back of my closet). I am now on the verge of thirty, and am starting to see the ravages of age. I had just about had it with my skin until I tried this night cream. After only one application, the stress on my face began to disappear. I don't know how it worked, but it worked. My skin is now moisturized without being oily or blotchy, and I haven't had a breakout since. My personal life has even improved. I swear, that this is a face cream from God!

I have sensitive, oily skin prone to breakouts and have never been able to use a moisturizer without breaking out. This product worked wonders on my skin and I didn't have a bad reaction. There is so much more life in my skin. I also really love the night serum, it's perfect for under your eyes and across your forehead.

The Naturally Ageless night creme is another, in what has been my experience of the line, of their fine products. This creme does indeed smell yummy as mentioned in other reviews, and I feel it does firm up my skin, which is prone to large pores. It does seem to give me a little extra "glow". I would buy it again.

I did not have instant results with this cream like some other reviewers, but I have been using it consistently day AND night in combination with Eucerin Redness Relief Anti-Aging Serum and am seeing some great results in skin tone and firmness after about a month.

Initially, I was less than impressed but continued using it because, well, I paid for it, and it wasn't greasy and didn't irritate. I usually get breakouts, redness, and stinging with new products but not with this one, so like I said, I continued using and am so glad I did because my skin really is appearing more youthful.

Oh, and it smells light and fruity, too.

The picture of the product would have you believe it's two bottles of tablets. It is not. It is those stupid little blister packs that ordinarily wouldn't be too bad, but the pills are quite brittle and will crumble easily, so we had to cut them open with scissors.

Of course, now all the other reviews say the same thing, but yeah. The pills themselves work just fine. Just be aware that you're gonna have a lot of un-blister-packing if you buy these.

Like other reviewers I received a single box of blister cards instead of the two bottles of loose tablets. The blister cards are nearly impossible to open without crushing the tablets. You will need scissors and pliers to pry open each blister, and then tweezers to pick up the crushed bits of tablet. Finally, you will need a broom to sweep up all the bits that fell on the floor. And some bandaids to wrap up your bleeding fingers where you jammed the scissors trying to open the package. Amazon refunded me for this, but the product description remains inaccurate. My order was placed in November, 2012.

this does exactly what I wanted it to do....help me sleep. I can take half of one and when I awake in the night it helps me to back to sleep. If I want faster results, or if for some reason I think I won't sleep well, I take a whole one.

DermaGen Anti-Wrinkle Patches

DermaGen Anti-Wrinkle PatchesI've used frownies for a while. I could only ever use the between the brow ones as the others were uncomfortable and fell off during the night. I got a good result with Frownies but getting them to stick and then getting them off, not so great.

These stick and they come right off in the morning. I can make one rectangle one stick between my eyebrows for 4 or 5 nights. After the first night, it loses some of its stickiness so I apply a drop of moisturizer to it and stick it on. It stays. On the 3rd night I washed the patch and it got stickier. Hard to complain about that. I think 4 or 5 nights max on the rectangle one is probably the max for me. Between my former use of frownies and now these, I have no frown lines... when I'm not frowning. And therein lies the difference between these and Botox. With botox (which I haven't had for over a year), I can't frown much so the lines don't crease over and over again. With these, yeah, they get relaxed and refreshed and the creases are gone, but I can still make creases by frowning. I've gotten pretty good at remembering not to frown

I used the ones that go around your mouth for the first time last night. Felt MUCH better than the frownies brand and stayed on all night. I was expecting nothing. Those nasal labial folds aren't going anywhere fast without some kind of dermal filler that I don't want to spring for just now. I was shocked when I woke up and they were smoothed out. It didn't last of course. I didn't expect it to. It was ONE night. But just the fact that they could spend 8 hours NOT folded is a pretty cool thing. We'll see if there's any real difference with continued use. Somehow I doubt it.

For what they are, they're great. Will they take all the lines out of your face the way Botox or dermal fillers would? No, but there is a definite difference, which beats the heck out of no difference. :)

Perfect patches for smoothing out the nasal labial folds. They also work very well on forehead lines. Compared to Frownies, which I used on a regular basis before discovering DermaGen, these patches are very comfortable and stay on during the night. They are easy to apply and you'll hardly notice wearing them. No water needed. Just peel them off the sheet and attached them to your face. I use the same patches three to four times. Although you wake up looking wonderfully smooth, the effect will wear off during the day. However, you can add on a few "tricks" which will keep you glowing and firm.

In my experience, the best results are achieved by:

1. Allowing your night cream to absorb a little before attaching the patches.

2. Do facial exercises on a daily basis. You'll find some easy to follow videos on You Tube.

3. Drink plenty of water and use products which will moisturize and plump up your skin. My favorites are Lancome Genifique Concentrate and Shiseido Bio Performance Super Restoring Cream.

Don't be discouraged by the "As Seen On TV Images". This product is far better than the first impression...

I discovered patches at Amazon. I have only been using patches for a week and the patches work as well as the injectables I have had for wrinkles, but far less expensive. I am really excited about how well the patches work. I am also keeping a patch on a scar I have and it is softening the scar, making it flatten. For best results it is recommended that you use for thirty days so you will need more than one order of patches.

* 5/12 I had to update this review because I think they changed something about these patches. The last 2 batches I got felt a bit different and did not stick as well. I am not trying to knock the product, I still think it is awesome but I am ordering again with hopes I just got a couple of 'bad eggs'.

* 8/12 They changed the pads again, different packaging and everything. These newest pads stick better than the last ones but they do leave my face more 'tender' than the others did. I do not see as much positive change with these patches, te first ones I got were by far the best. These have not worked as well.

so I am only 2 nights into these patches but I can see where this is going already lol.

I am only 31 so my 'wrinkles' and 'fine lines' are 'invisible' to some people but not me, I see the 1 forehead crease coming thru and don't even get me started on my 'laugh lines'. My eyes are ok but I see fine lines forming.

I am diligent about skin care but was starting to think I was messing up my face in my sleep. I would wake up looking beat, even after a decent nights sleep,

Somehow I came across these and figured for $10-15 I may as well try them, I never used anything like it thinking it would be super uncomfortable. These little pads are actually quite comfortable, they sick on well and are easy to remove. I had no issue reusing them a second night and I know I will get at least 1 more use from them.

I put them on before bed and woke up to way less lines in my face. My forehead line was smoothed away and my laugh lines were a bit fainter. Last night I did my eyes and it worked very well, I now know how hard I am on my face in my sleep. It's quite scary.

The only downfall to these is that if you have sensitive skin they may leave redness. I know my laugh lines were left a bit red so I didn't use the pads there again the next night, I switched them to my eyes. I think the delicate skin around the eyes maybe sensitive to these pads every night too. This is defiantly a case by case product, not all skin responds the same to everything and you may have no redness at all.

Overall I like this and would order it again, the company had it sent to me super fast too.

Gaia Herbs - Sound Sleep, 60 capsulesI purchased this product hoping to find some relief for insomnia without having to resort to prescription drugs. I was not impressed. I actually felt energized after taking this. Very disappointing.

I am a personality type A person who has difficulty relaxing. Winding down to sleep can be particularly difficult. If I have a lot on my mind and/or wound up, I take 2 of these and I sleep straight through every time. My spouse snores like crazy. He's been checked and he does not have sleep apnea just a snoring problem short of surgery these are the only alternative to a good night's sleep for both of us. Okay....so perhaps I'm a little gullible when it comes to product claims, especially when I wanted something to work so badly. I purchased this product in hopes that I would be able to spend the night with my boyfriend WITHOUT ending a romantic night with the inevitable "raising of the roof" snoring sound I so frequently produce :) Well, not so much. For the first hour of sleep, it seemed to help.....after that, right back to the rib punches and the "roll over"....."you're snoring"....that I endure. I was really disappointed in the performance of the product. If anyone has found a product that works better, I'd love to hear about it because this one was NOT it. Happy snoring! Save your money on this one!

Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream, 1.70 Fluid Ounce

Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream, 1.70 Fluid OunceI'm 41 and have tried around a dozen low to mid priced wrinkle creams/ moisturizers. The ones with retinol ALWAYS seem to make my skin feel drier and less young that before I started but THIS one is absolutely perfect. I can't believe it's so low priced. This IMO is better than Olay regenerist. From the moment I put it on my face, there was a difference for me that is something that never happens despite their claims, and you end up wondering if it's working. My whole face tingled, and felt younger immediately. LOVE this stuff. Absorbs nicely, no heavy layer of slime that balls up if you rub it as many of the "firming" creams do. Can't say enough about this stuff I've found my perfect product finally, and actually got it at my local grocery store :D The price is right, and it does exactly what it claims moisturizes, firms and ANTI AGES your skin. Can't wait to keep using it.

I love this product, and this is the second time I've gotten it from Amazon. I've been looking for a night cream, but it's been hard since I have very sensitive skin, and this product fits the bill. It really does help, and makes me feel like a new me, firming my skin, minimizing my pores, I think it's safe to say I like it a lot.

I have super dry skin and I can't tell you how many different moisturizers I've tried.

I will admit I really like the Philosophy Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin. Also, the Clinique Repairwear Night Cream is good. But those products are right around $50 for the same amount of product you get here. I finally just got sick of shelling out so much money for a moisturizer that I started trying drug store brands. I was very unimpressed with the Aveeno Night Cream, and then I found this.

This product is really, really similar to the Clinique Repairwear at a fraction of the price. I don't know that I'm noticing any anti-wrinkle or firming from it, but it does a great job of moisturizing my skin.

I love this product and I will definitely be re-purchasing.

Product began to burn my face around my mouth after using it for 3 months. I had only been applying a VERY thin layer, which probably explains why it took so long to show the damage. And although the fragrance didn't bother me, it is somewhat strong and could be overpowering to some. There are likely other products out there that don't burn or smell and do a better job.

ShipShape Adjustable Base

ShipShape Adjustable Base Size: Twin XLShipShape was delivered in two boxes. It took me an hour or so to assemble. Well worth the effort: combined with a 100% latex mattress I purchased from another vendor, I had an affordable dream bed. Best of all, I didn't have to over-pay by dealing with mattress store sales pressure and tactics. I got exactly what I wanted without the frills. ShipShape's motors seem strong and good-quality ... With my >200 lbs, the motors can easily raise my head and legs. My only gripe: assembly was a bit tricky. The YouTube assembly video made it look so easy to swing the leg supports out .. but I had to loosen the screws to do that. Worse, the motor assembly got dislodged from the side rails during my fumbling ... it look quite a bit of head scratching to figure out how to force things back together.

I bought 2 twin xls to make a split king and the price is unbeatable. I bought 2 memory foam mattresses to go with this and my set up is very nice. I am very happy.

Nature Made Liquid Softgel Sleep Natural Sleep Aid

Nature Made Liquid Softgel Sleep Natural Sleep Aid, 30-CountI've had an Ambien prescription for a year or so now, but lately it has been effective at initially knocking me out for the night but still has me waking up about 1am unable to get back to sleep. Not good. After fighting it for a month I got a recommendation to look at a couple of the OTC offerings. A friend mentioned Alteril, but in looking into the main ingredient on that I was uncomfortable with some of the potential side effects. When I visited my local store to look at the Alteril I found the Nature Made "Sleep" on the shelf next to it and checked out some of the reviews.

The reviews were mixed some people swearing by it, others saying it was completely ineffective. My own experience was this the first night I took it I DID notice a calming, sedating effect, but while it also initially knocked me out I still woke up about 1am and was unable to get a restful night's sleep. But I was still obviously calmer and felt like I needed to get back to sleep just couldn't.

Having read lots of reviews where people said "stick with it it can take a few doses over a few days" to work, I tried again the next day. And that was apparently the ticket. I woke the next morning with the first restful night's sleep I'd had in over a month. Didn't feel even slightly groggy, like happens with a lot of the benadryl-like OTC sleep meds. Just rested really rested for the first time in ages.

I've shoved my Ambien in a drawer and now use this exclusively when I need to sleep or am having enough going on that it's hard to quiet my thoughts at night and get a good sleep. I highly recommend this, but you may need to give it a few nights for it to kick in effectively. I don't know why that is it just is. I like having a natural alternative without worrying about either side effects or dependence.

(UPDATE a few months later): After about a month or so I found Sleep not working as well as it did initially. I looked a little harder at the ingredients and discovered the Melatonin portion of this sleep gel is VERY slight only 1.5 mg. I supplemented the Melatonin (up to 10 mg for me, though of course effective addition will vary person to person) and now several months later that still seems to be doing the trick.

I did read someone online who suggested the two main ingredients, Melatonin and L-Theanine, could be obtained more cheaply by buying them separately. At least for me I have NOT found that to be true, particularly in the case of the l-theanine I found it difficult to locate and expensive a 30 day supply cost more than the Nature Made Sleep did. I also want to add that the L-Theanine has been a remarkable, surprising PLUS to this formula. Research it online, but it's basically an OTC anti-anxiety med, which for someone like me whose sleep troubles are largely caused by an inability to "turn off my head" at night, it's been a godsend. I was very surprised at how effective the Theanine has been at turning that off.

My sleeping schedule was all messed up after winter break. Staying up until 3 or 5 am easy! then it came time for school and of course i couldn't sleep or I would lay down and stay awake for hrs, but still unable to close my eyes. Finally i went to my local CVS and asked where the sleep aids were and she pointed me in that direction. i had no prior knowledge of sleeping aids, but i was attracted to the nice looking box and the straight up "SLEEP" printed on the box and i was thinking "yeah that's exactly what i need!" So i bought it even though it was about $4 more than the other products. That night i took 1 pill at around 9pm and was feeling ready for bed for around 10:10pm "I don't know why i was doing it, but i was kinda trying to fight the effect as long as i could" And to my surprise the next morning, i was ready to get up!, i walked to my phone and was expecting for it to be around 12pm to 4pm, "my usual wake up time" and it was 7am, "I was like whoa it worked!! Ha! What do ya know!" The Dreams i had from it were kind of weird. it felt like dream, inside a dream, inside of another dream! It's like my mind realized I was dreaming, so in an effort to wake up, it ended me up in another dream??? idk weird i know but Hey it worked.... Thumbs up on this one i Liked it =)

I was taking this product with Ambien and together they worked very well for me. Ambien alone definitely knocks me out but then I guess it wears off while I'm sleeping because I would still wake up almost every night between 4 and 4:30am. Taking both of them allowed me to sleep through the night and completely eliminated my waking up in the middle of the night. When I stopped taking the Ambien (not by choice btw, trust me!), I did find myself having more trouble falling asleep yet once I did, I still did not wake up very often at night. Once I fell a sleep, I pretty much stayed asleep which was great.

I substituted the Ambien for GABA which I heard works very well with melatonin, the main ingredient in these gels, and WOW do they work well together. I don't even think about Ambien anymore, don't even feel a need for it. There is a sleep stack that I got from amazon too, Relax/Sleep Stack (Bulk Powder) 90 Day Supply. It contains both of these and also phenibut which is a mood elevator (nice little bonus in itself ; ). For a good nights rest I totally recommend this groups of supplements.

In the past i have had insomnia due to the fact that i cant shut my brain off, when the lights go off, the virtual to do list starts up and last for hours! However I never took any sleep aid because everything i had tried, the regular Tylenol pm etc. and "good nite sleep" pills would make me drowsy well into the next day.

This all changed when i tried these wonderful things. Its great, i take 1 pill about 30-45 mins before i go to bed and when i turn off the lights, my brain stops and a deep slumber sets in. Yet i still wake up at the usual time, with plenty of energy for the upcoming day.

Definitely try this, its a lifesaver, and its all natural!

Check with your doctor on just how much you can take at once if the recommened dose doesn't work. I have been using these for about 2 years (?) I get 5-8 hours of good sleep, wake refreshed, and am not groggy during the day. I have tried all the other top sellers, and this is the only one that made a difference.

Also, just FYI, if you have stomache pains taking this, which I haven't but I am sensitive to l-Tryptophan in other products, you can take digestive enxymes to stop it. Fighting insomnia for 25 years has made me try and learn everything.

This is worth a shot for anyone like me... take it before you go to bed, and hit the bed as soon as you start to feel a tad sleepy (takes about an hour for me). Once in bed and comfortable, breathe slowly usuing your stomach to pull in your air, not your ribs. I slowly count in 4 counts, then out counting to 4... the doc said to do this at least 10 times... with this, I never make it to 10. But trying to settle down and drift off with something like ambien, i can count to 300.... if you are reading this then you know the pain of insomnia... I wish you luck.

MARPAC Dohm-DS Dual Speed Electro-Mechanical White Noise Machine / Sound Machine for Sleeping at Hom

MARPAC Dohm-DS Dual Speed Electro-Mechanical White Noise Machine / Sound Machine for Sleeping at Home & TravelI've had the MARPAC SleepMate for 3 years. Not only do I use this unit to sleep, I keep it on all of the time. I usually have some kind of white noise going throughout the house to block out distractions. I don't want to obsess about the noisy neighbor. I don't always want to ask the kids to turn the TV down, when they are enjoying their TV time. The little machine helps me to re-group. It's a little solace machine. It also gives me a focal-point so I may get to sleep. Helpful especially while traveling, as it can give one the feeling of familiarity and consistency.

It's travel-worthy. Using the proper country adapters, I've used this product in England, India, Finland, Australia and here at home in the USA.

It has gotten me through many-a-hotel stay.

I have a new baby (2 months) and I believe the white noise adds calm to our room.

Should anything happen to this unit, I will buy another. I may even buy another for my baby's room, when he transitions to his own space.

Yes. Get it.

Update, January 20, 2012:

Still running!

Finally. I've been searching for years to find a sound therapy machine that actually sounded like a fan. I've been sleeping with a fan on since I was a kid with a father who snored, then the college dorm years, then apartment and condo living now in a house with teen-age neighbors. Lots of people coming and going so the sound was tuned out by running a fan. When traveling it is hard to bring a fan along and the on-off of the heating/air systems in the hotel rooms is typically annoying. This is the ideal replacement. I am thrilled with this machine. Sounds with water make me want to use the bathroom and bug noises don't work for me. The typical white noise sounds like static and is good as a last resort, but this has the sound of a fan which is much more pleasant to hear.

Great sleep device. Relaxing noise that fades out most other noises such as cars, lawn mowers, people or loud birds outside making noises. Fades out TV sounds and people moving around the house outside the bedroom perfect for a night shift worker who needs to sleep during the day while other people in the house or outside are awake doing things. Like the dual speed settings.

I bought this product for use in my apartment. I positioned it high and at the end of my bed and it does provide an adequate amount of continuous white noise for the room. I haven't tested it with the sound of lawn mowing yet but, for blocking conversations and the sounds of footfalls from up above, it works well. It was easy to use. I have it on the lower sound option with all of the holes opened up. I may have to use the loudest setting to drown out the sound of mowing. Otherwise, I recommend this for anyone who needs to sleep through inconsiderate neighbor's noise. I wish that I would have bought this product sooner!

Want MARPAC Dohm-DS Dual Speed Electro-Mechanical White Noise Machine / Sound Machine for Sleeping at Hom Discount?

This sound screen is exactly what I was looking for. I have trouble sleeping at night and in order to block out those night sounds I have been using a Honeywell HEPA filter on high all night long for the last 3-4 years. The problem is the HEPA filter is moving a lot of air and draws roughly 250 Watts of electricity, which is a lot to be running 12+ hours a day, ever day of the year. Also its not very feasible for me to take it with me traveling, which makes it hard to sleep on the road. Electronic white noise equivilents all sound very electronic to me and I can usually hear the point of repetition, which bothers me and keeps me awake.

So I asked for and received the Marpac 980A for christmas it is the perfect solution. It draws a lot less electricity, which was something I was looking for. It creates the same sort of sound the air filter or a fan creates the dial allows you to adjust how loud it is and the type of noise one way is a mostly rushing air noise, the other is more of a pleasant mechanical hum. It also has two settings on the on/off switch, low and high.

The sound screen is a lot softer volume wise than something like my air filter, when I first turned it on my husband remarked 'Is that as loud as it gets?', however, while my air filter sits on the other side of the room, far away, I put the marpac next to me on my nightstand and it actually seems about the same volume at that proximity. It's small size (about 4.5" diameter) means I can take it with me when travelling. I also liked that it has foam padding on the bottom so it will not scratch nice furniture it is set on.

It does let off a very very slight airflow out the holes, if I put my hand right over them I can feel it, but not enough to reach my face sleeping next to it and bother me.

I wanted to note that the first picture in this listing is NOT of the 980A, it must be a slightly older model, the switch is different, the second picture is correct.
