Amazon Customer Service was unable to tell me, but in hopes of helping others, these bottles contain a 1 mg dosage per four droppers full of liquid. Per our pediatrician's advice our ADHD son gets a .25mg dose of melatonin at bedtime and it has made a world of difference in his ability to settle down and get to sleep. It doesn't knock him out, just helps to slow his body down enough to let sleep come much easier. First of all, this says on the package that it can be taken by itself or with water/juice. It also says it has flavorings in it, in addition to alcohol "as a preservative". So I was like, "wow, okay, I can just take the 4 "droppers" full that it says to without anything, no big deal." This stuff is MOSTLY alcohol, it burned worse than whiskey going down, so if you're going to take it, I highly recommend mixing it with something.
Secondly, the dropper inside doesn't have measurements on it, but on the package it refers to a "dropper" as a measurement and then says that "1/2 of a full dropper = 1 dropper." Wtf is that? I mean, I deciphered it, but it might not be that easy for everyone, and the fact that the dropper itself isn't just labeled so you KNOW how much you're taking is kind of ridiculous to me. Ultimately you end up taking "4 droppers" for an adult dose (or 2 full droppers if you're reading the word "dropper" like everyone in the world does). 4mL total. So that's what I took.
When I first took it out it gave me weird chest pains, which I thought were probably just because it burned a hole in my esophagus going down. I still have them this morning, though, so I don't think that's the case. Also, those 4 "droppers" were like the equivalent of a BIG dose of nyquil. It knocked me out flat for 10 hours, and when I finally had to get up because the alarm was going off it took everything in me to haul myself out of bed. It made me feel really trippy before I fell asleep (I felt like the bed was on waves, and I kept seeing green everywhere even though the lights were off) and when I woke up in the middle of the night because I had to pee really bad (which usually happens for me, I drink lots of water, and I'm just glad I did wake up because not having done so would have been embarrassing) I still felt trippy and stayed pretty much half-asleep the whole time. That could be seen as a good thing I suppose (that it was still effective I did fall asleep immediately after I came back to bed), take it how you will.
I'm mentioning this not because I think the dosage is wrong for everyone, but because they don't offer alternative doses on the label and it would have behooved me to research them before I took it without considering that a little might have been enough. I urge everybody else to do the same. I've also heard that if you take too much it can have the opposite effect, which is why I read the label over and over incredulously when I saw that they want you to take 4mL. But as a 120-something lb, female 20 year old apparently that is not exactly that type of 'too much.'
I'm not talking down this product because, despite all of this, it did put me to sleep, which I really need. I tend to get awful insomnia and it's good to know that I do have a failsafe that will knock me out if I really need sleep on any particular night. At the same time, I know that dosage for me will take some experimenting, and I don't really want to take this every night (which I've also heard you shouldn't do). But all in all, I'm glad to know that it works, and I do recommend it.

Getting my (now 5 year old developmentally delayed) son to sleep was always a BIG issue before we discovered the wonders of melatonin. My son's developmental pediatrician recommended use of melatonin about a year ago, and getting my son to bed has become so much easier. When we forget to give it to him, he comes out of his room about an hour after we put him to bed saying he can't sleep. We realize we forgot to give him his melatonin we give him his nightly dose, and he is asleep in about a half an hour.The pediatrician said to start with 1 mg and go up as needed to up to 3 mg. At one mg my son was sleepy all day. We give our son 0.5 mg and that works well.
We have used this brand since day one. Initially we gave it to him straight, but it was a struggle to give it to him. We now dilute it in about an ounce of water or lemonade (it has a rasberry flavor, but it is quite strong). Now he takes it without a problem every night.

My son has severe ADHD and a mood disorder, he is only 4 and we use Melatonin to help his restless sleep. The doctors suggested sleeping pills when he was only 3 and before I would even consider that route I wanted to try an alternative that was natural. Melatonin luckily has done the trick, without it he will be bouncing off the walls at one in the morning, a couple droppers of Melatonin drops and he is in his bed asleep by 8:30. Our regular brand of Melatonin was back ordered so I thought we would try this brand. It does put him to sleep, and therefore works, but unlike the orange flavor he tolerates in the brand we regularly use, he has to have this diluted in water or he is left gagging. It doesn't work any better than the stuff that tastes better, so we won't purchase this again.
