Before I started taking it, my sleep problems were such: I had trouble falling asleep, mainly because of anxiety, and, worse, I had trouble waking up. I have tried many things for my trouble waking up, including an alarm that rolls around my room and I have to chase after it. Nothing really worked. I've overslept so many times for important things.
Then, after taking this for a couple of days, my sleeping started to change. Instead of sleeping 10-12 hours a night, I would sleep for 4-5. I wake up feeling rested, which is good, but then I start to feel tired after a few hours and have been taking a 4-5 hour nap most days too. So this has definitely changed my sleeping...but I'm not sure if that's 100% a good thing. It does allow me to wake up early in the morning (sometimes too early), so I no longer have to worry about missing class or job interviews...unless I fall back asleep before they occur, which I could see happening if they are in the afternoon or evening.
I also noticed a slight mood improvement almost immediately. Within a few hours, I was feeling less...volatile. Normally (well, since I got depressed) I have roller coaster emotions, but this has tamed them a lot. I wouldn't say I'm happy, exactly...but I haven't felt desperate lately, either.
I didn't notice the vivid dreams that others mentioned at first, aside from the fact that I actually remembered my dreams, which is rare for me...until yesterday (a week into taking it), when I did some yard work, and I found a tick on me. I hate bugs, so I was a little jumpy for the rest of the day. Then I went to sleep...and I kept waking up, thinking bugs were crawling on me. It was not fun. Finally I decided to get up at 2:30 a.m. after 5 hours of sleep.
Overall, I'm very amazed with how much this supplement changed my sleeping and mood. The fact that I can't seem to sleep more than 5 hours in a row on this is both a good and a bad thing...but until I can find something else that will wake me up on time, I think I'll keep taking this so I can actually get to class on time and maybe hold down a job.
Update: I stopped taking it because I couldn't handle the sleep problems it caused. I was either sleeping or extremely sleepy for 3/4 of the day. I've been taking St. John's Wort instead for my depression and am still looking for a solution to my oversleeping. Thinking about switching to SAMe.

I was just going to order some more so I thought I would leave a review.5-htp works good for me for depression. I cant really comment on the reduced food cravings thing, because Im already skinny and I dont eat all that much, however I do think it helps because I eat even less when Im taking it(not necessarily a good thing for me).
For sleep, I have always slept pretty deep. So I can't really comment that it changed my life in a significant way(although perhaps it can for others). But I have noticed more vivid dreams, which I guess is a good thing.
Lastly, I have tried two brands of 5-HTP but I like this one more because the pills are small and hard so they are easier to swallow and they supposedly help digestion, and they also have vitamin C and B6 which is always good.

I take one 50mg tablet every morning, and it helps me get a full night of rest. I usually wake up in the middle of the night, but I am able to get back to sleep.
