Zzzquil Nighttime Sleep-aid Liquid Warming Berry Flavor Twin Pack, 24 ounces

I have been having a very hard time getting to sleep this past month. Sleep for me can be a vicious cycle, as I need only to get off of my schedule once and I will be up until 4:AM until something magical comes along (like Zzzquil) or I can force myself to stay awake for a full day, and by the time that's done i'm in terrible pain.

There are so many bad reviews on this product, they state that it 'only' has a basic drug for a high price. I have tried over three different basic diphenhydramine's and they have done NOTHING for me. Maybe it has something to do with the pills, maybe the liquid just works that much better.

My experience with Zzzquil:

I was almost in tears because I went to bed at 5AM every night and wouldn't awake until 1:00 PM the next day. This was a terrible cycle for me, I was starting to feel sick. I had tried three different 'sleep-aids' by this time (All of them in pill form) which basically did less than a placebo.

I saw Zzzquil and was interested that it was in liquid form rather than a pill, and so I decided to try it.

I took it at 8:00 PM and entirely forgot I had taken it after dinner. At the time I had taken it, I felt fully awake and was ready for another battle to get to sleep. I did realize though, that by 9:30pm I was EXTREMELY tired, and by this time I had remembered the Zzzquil (It was unnatural the sheer loss of energy I had). I decided I would try to go to bed (A whole 7 hours early!).

I easily fell asleep and woke up happily and refreshed the next morning. The best sleep I have had in a VERY long time.

Side effects:

The night that I had taken it I had TERRIBLE dreams, extremely weird dreams unlike any others i've ever had. I could handle this, as if I'm dreaming i'm sleeping and that's all I wanted.

Furthermore, as I was falling asleep my legs and fingers went a bit numb and the whole feeling was rather strange, I believe this is a common side effect of DCM (Decreased temperature in hands/feet).

Overall:

If you don't mind some odd dreams and are having trouble sleeping, it's well worth and and is far more effective than any other sleeping medicine. Thank you Vicks!

I know many have commented that the active ingredient is the same as Benadryl. The truth of the matter is this works for me better than anything I have ever triedIncluding Benadryl, homeopathic remedies, supplements, and even avoiding sugar and caffeine all together. I have horrible insomnia-Most nights I can't get to sleep before 4am on my own. Obviously this is terrible when trying to get up early to work. I began taking ZzzQuil on the worst nights. I take a dose 2-3 times a week so I can at least get a decent's night rest sometimes. The benefit of a liquid is it acts faster. The taste isn't terrible which it great for a liquid med. Within 30 mins to 1 hour I am so tired I can't keep my eyes open. I don't take it unless I can definitely get a full eight hours of sleep. I think when it comes to medications each person is affected differently.

To anyone with sleep deprivation issues If you've never tried it I would think it's worth a try. If it doesn't work for you you aren't out much. I know from my own experience, and my husband's it knocks us both out. Neither of us wake up with that groggy/fogginess you experience when you take Nyquil.

Like many of you seeking reviews for nighttime sleep aids, I came over to Amazon to read up on everyone's opinion regarding Vick's new product, ZzzQuil.

Like all of you, I am a person who doesn't get a good night's sleep. Often, I will lie awake in bed for hours tossing and turning until I eventually nod off. Other times, I will awaken in the middle of the night, unable to get back to my slumber.

I have tried most everything to date, with mixed results.

The first product I tried was Kirkland Signature Nighttime Sleep Aid. It's available on Amazon in pill form. It's rather heavy-duty stuff that did its job. It contains Doxylamine Succinate, which I know nothing about, but I can tell you that although I got a great night's rest, the side-effects were downright awful. Taking one of these pills will have you feeling groggy for most of the following day. Sometimes I would get headaches throughout the following day. It was so bad that I ended up throwing most of the 2-bottle pack away.

Next I tried Source Natural's brand of Melatonin. At first, I was quite amazed at how well it worked. However, within a short period of time I found out that the more you take it, the less effective it is. I think that ultimately, it affects your body's ability to produce its own melatonin. In fact, I found Melatonin really only works for me if I don't use it for a week or two. One should also note that Melatonin's purpose is to help a person fall asleep, but not stay asleep.

Finding a new product coming to market like ZzzQuil is exciting for someone in my situation. The product reviews posted on Amazon seemed pretty promising. I went to my local BJs club and bought a small 3-pack for slightly more than the larger 2-pack pictured here.

Last night I took my first dose. Filled the included cup with purple liquid and took a swig. The taste isn't as bad as many people may suggest it is. The liquid is definitely not as thick as Nyquil.

It took about 30 minutes until I started feeling woozy. Amazing, the last thing I remember is placing my head on the pillow. I must have gone right out.

Vivid dreams? You bet. This was the first dream in a long time that I could remember from start to finish. Bad dream? Not at all. I did awake once or twice during the night, but instead of tossing and turning, I went right back to sleep.

Did I wake up refreshed this morning? Well, at first I thought I did. I was a bit groggy, a slight hint of a headache, but after my morning coffee, I felt fine. However, a few hours later as the caffeine wore off, I felt a sense of heaviness in my head. This was the same side-effect I got with the Kirkland Sleep Aid, but on a much lesser scale. It is now 4pm in the afternoon -10 hours after waking up -and I am just finally coming out of the grog I was in.

This is the problem with sleeping aids such as this. There tend to be lingering side-effects. Thus far, I prefer ZzzQuil over other sleeping aids, as it seems the diphenhydramine has somewhat less severe side-effects than the Doxylamine Succinate (unless they are the same thing). I think I can handle continuing to use ZzzQuil despite the side-effects it induces.

Of course, everyone is going to have a different experience. In the end, I can truly say this stuff works - but I also question how often you can keep taking something like Zzzquil before your body no longer reacts to it.

Anyone who wants to buy this product, please be aware that it is loaded with sugars and although it does aid in helping you fall asleep, it raises your blood sugar extremely. I should have made myself more aware of its sugar content before I bought it..instead I learned the hard way. I took it to work and some others who have no issue with its sugar content are enjoying their blissfully sleepy nights.
