When I received the pad, I noticed there was no indication of which side was north or south. I checked with a compass and found that the magnets alternated. One would have north facing up, and the next would be south. It looks like the magnets are glued in place, so I can't align them all facing one way.
The mattress pad had an offensive odor. I only used it one night and both the bed and I smelled in the morning. I had to wash the sheets and our mattress's large down mattress cover to get rid of the odor.
