Bucky Shades Sleep Mask With Earplugs

Bucky Shades Sleep Mask With Earplugs, Midnight, One SizeI've owned two pair of these Bucky eyeshades over 15 years. They are comfortable and VERY effective, both at home and in an airplane. I keep one in my bedstand for the occasional weekend day when I get to sleep in a little and the other in my travel carry-on bag for flights.

The only downside is that after several years, the elastic in the bands begins to wear out, then they don't seal as well against your face to keep light out. Because the elastic is shot, I'm about to buy my third pair. (at this price, it's too bad that the elastic isn't easily replaceable, since the front part of the shades is still fine)

For years I relied on free eye masks handed out by airlines, then I bought various fancy ones from spas and health food stores. None of them worked as well as this Bucky. I resisted the price ($25) at first, but now find that it is worth every penny. Buy the Bucky that has a tiny pocket for earplugs it comes with earplugs that are strung together so you won't lose them. As a frequent flyer who takes red eye flights, this is utterly indispensable.

A friend (who knew I liked a good eyeshade for sleeping) bought me some of these from the States. They are THE most comfortable, blackout shades I have ever used. What more can I say? I am a Bucky eyeshade junkie about to buy a backup set (cause I can't sleep right without them). Did I mention they were comfortable?

I had a Buckeye shade that I bought 8 years ago to use while I was flying back & forth across the Atlantic. Recently, in the apartment I rent -the owners pulled down the old vertical blinds which did a pretty good job of blacking out the sun and replaced them with cheap ones that did nothing.

This was a problem because my bedroom, which has wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows with no break for 75 feet, faces due east on the 30th floor of the only high-rise in that direction. In the late spring and summer the sun rises to shine directly into my expansive window waking me up before 6:00 AM every morning -though I don't get to bed before midnight. Because of the particular window system, it was not possible to install blackout shades or curtains (which would have cost $1500 if it were possible.)

Desperate, I looked for my Buckeyes hoping they would help but couldn't find them. Even more desperate, I discovered that Amazon sold them -but Amazon sold others that were more highly rated by a larger number of people: Lewis n' Clark Comfort Eye and Sweet Dreams Contoured Sleep Mask. Since the latter two were really cheap, I bought both along with the expensive Buckeyes.

The Sweet Dreams did not have the cushion below the eyes to block at light and so were worthless. I do not see how they get so highly rated!?! The Lewis N Clark do have that cushion but are not well-enough constructed to let your eyes move uninterrupted which is critical for deep sleep -getting your REM (rapid eye movement.) But I have very long eyelashes and that is part of the problem. Plus it slid off during the night.

But the Buck Eye Shades worked like a charm, It took a few nights to figure out how to fit it on my head properly (pulling down the cushion below my eyes to stay there -and the right tightness and placement of the band around the back of my head) -but it blocked out the sun completely, left plenty of space under the mask for my eyes and eyelashes (which are quite long) to remain untouched -and it did not come off my head -even though I am a stomach sleeper and move around a lot at night.

So don't waste your money on the others -even though they are a lot cheaper -they just don't work or work as well.

If the Buck Eye worked in my circumstances, they will work in anyone's.

So get the Buckeyes -they are worth every penny. Your sleep quality and quantity is the single most important thing you can do for your health.

On the other hand, the Sweet Dreams mask is very silky & sexy and a really good item if you're into those kinds of experiences ;-) I would buy it for that :-)

Update: I just bought 2 more of the Bucky Eye Shades -a back-up for me (for when I can't find one) and one for my partner -though he likes the Sweet Dreams too.

The Bucky eye pillow has the best 'black-out' out of all the eye pillows I've tried, because of the built in pillow on the bottom, inside (which the picture doesn't show). And they are machine washable (some brands actually aren't).
