Chillow Cooling Pillow Insert

Maybe I did something wrong, but the instructions were clear so I don't see how I could have. It just didn't work. The instructions clearly say not to put it in the frig or freezer. But that's the only way I can think it might actually work. Otherwise, it just doesn't stay cool

A little disappointed...this isn't staying cool and it keeps moving around and getting lumpy inside the pillow case. Am I doing something wrong that it doesnt' stay cool all night?

What a disappointment! It does not work as described. The pillow does not get any cooler then the water you put in it and it does not stay cool. I ended up throwing it away save yourself the money and do not buy this.

I've been using the Chillow for over 5 years. It's not perfect but I've found a way to make it work. First of all, I put it directly on top of my pillow and sleep with my head directly on it. It does not stay cool for the entire night but if you wake up and it's not cool enough, you can rotate it 180 degrees and it will be fine for another few hours.

Eventually, small tears appear around the edge of the Chillow. Eventually, they will start leaking. If you examine it every week or so, you can see the tears and put a drop of super glue on them. This will prevent them from leaking. I get about 6 or 8 months out of each one before I reorder. To me the benefits of the chillow far outweigh the downside.

I frequently have trouble getting to sleep as well as staying asleep, but I don't like how groggy and gross I feel after taking prescription or even OTC sleeping pills. This does moisturize although it can feel greasy on hands. It is unscented but smells odd like cardboard or plastic. It's an okay lotion nothing fantastic.

Burt's Bees Radiance Night Creme, 2-Ounce Jar

11-10-2011 Update:

I have to admit it was quite difficult to find a good replacement for the Burt's Bees Night Creme(original formula), but after trying several brands in the past few months there were two that stood out above the rest.

1. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Riche Soothing Protective Facial Cream, 1.35-Ounce: This product is the closest to Burt's Bee's Night Creme(original formula) that I could find. In some ways, this product is superior(ie even thinner and lighter than burts bees and absorbs faster), but the cost is very high $21+ for 1.35oz. The ingredients in this product rates insanely well for being safe-to-use at EWG Cosmetic website, so if cost isn't an issue for you this product is definitely worth a try.

2. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream, 3.0 Ounces Tube (Pack of 3): This product is my recommended alternative. Although this product is not as fluid as the Burt's Bees Night Creme(original formula), it has all the essential characteristics: non-greasy, easy to apply, absorbs quickly, feels light on the skin, and no scent+++! Also, the ingredients in this product is rated very well(safe-to-use) at EWG Cosmetic Website. Lastly, I think it is important to note that the price is amazing!; Amazon sells the 3oz(3-pack) for only ~$16!. A lot of local stores carry this product, go try it out!

I was very disappointed to find out that Burt's Bees had changed their Night Creme to a new formula while using almost identical packaging(I actually set the old and new packaging side-to-side to compare). I have enjoyed using Burt's Bees Night Creme for more than 3 years, but this new formula feels almost like a completely different product.

Here is my comparison of Burt's Bees Night Creme Original vs New Formula:

Original Formula:

+ Non-Greasy

+ Absorbs Very Quickly

+ Feels light on the skin(texture of creme is almost water-like)

+ Very light smell that fades away very quickly

New Formula:

Greasy(does not feel good when applied on face)

Does not absorb quickly(probably because it's greasy)

Does not feel light(texture of creme feels thick and uneasy to apply)

An overly sweet & strong smell(personally I think the smell is very strong, unnaturally sweet, and an abomination)

Conclusion:

New improvements or additions to a product can be very beneficial, but it seems like Burt's Bees has changed this product completely. Burt's Bees has completely lost sight of the fundamental characteristics that makes this product unique, and even more disappointing is their decision to use the same packaging for a different product.

I have tried a lot of night creams---expensive or inexpensive-When I tried this cream at first I thought it did not work. After a month of using it I really noticed a difference in the way my skin looked and the way it felt. Also my skin is very sensitive the older I get and I am 50+. I will break out so easy now so I have to be pickey with what I put on my skin. It is very thick and you only need a little bit for your face and neck.

This product is great-Cost 14.99@CVS---for 2ounces. Well worth the money

Flents Flents Quiet Please Foam Ear Plugs

These earplugs are good but nowhere near as good as the newer purple variety of "Quiet Please" that Flents had started making recently. Now suddenly they've gone back to the older version with no explanation. They're not as flexible and they pop out of my ears. They still make their "Quiet Time" earplugs in the softer purple variety but they are not as effective. Why did they change back? I don't get it. And I can't find a website to complain about it.

I've used Flents Quiet Please for years and recently have had trouble finding them in my local drugstores. They only have those colored bullet-shaped squishy ones now and I find they are no good. Don't stay in and don't block out noise. I was so happy to find the old fashioned off-white Flents Quiet Please online. I thought they had stopped making them. I will buy a boatload before they take them off the market for some trumped up cockamamie health reason. I find I can re-constitute them by placing them in a small pyrex bowl of water and microwaving for one minute. Squash in a paper towel to remove excess water and allow to air dry. They come back good as new.

I`ve been wearing ear plugs to sleep for over 20 yrs. I always used the orange ones with a NRR rating of 33. The problem with those is they go to far or work their way deeper into the ear canal. When they do that, they put pressure on my Arnold`s Nerve. Hurts like hell. I've been wearing these earplugs every night for 20 years. They always worked fine for me, until recently. It used to be that I could re-use the earplug until it just got too gross. Aroma Home E-bk Satin Eye Mask

This BLACK eye mask does an excellent job of blocking out all light. They are comfortable on and stay in place through the night. My husband and I each wear one every night. I bought extras in case they wear out because these masks are essential for our good night's sleep. NOTE: The pastel masks by this same company do NOT block out ALL light.

I'd been using little dollar store eye masks for a few years and finally at xmas I decided to use a gift certificate and splurge (in a small way) on this. This is my first sleep mask so I don't have anything to base it off of. With that said, I'd buy another one of these masks if anything ever happened to it. Some other reviewers for other brands mention an off smell after using the masks for a while, so I was a little worried about purchasing a sleep mask. This one doesn't have any unpleasant odors, and the lavender isn't a STRONG smell.

Does it's job well, blocks the light. The only light visible is by the nose, but a quick readjustment fixes that and I'm off to sleep. Otherwise I haven't had a problem with light seeping in, and I've never been deterred by light trying to fall asleep.

Only complaint is that it seems to be a little too snug on the eyes, and it can sometimes be a little annoying. But not enough to knock off a star. Would buy this again if I needed to!

I guess I don't see what everyone else see's in this mask. I bought this because I needed something that will block out the flashing lights of the tv at night. The problem is this mask has a large hole right under the eye near the nose area which allows all the light I'm trying to block out enter.

Not to mention when I first got this product it smelled awful, like mold. I had to rinse it out and dry it. It was so disgusting. I wanted to return it at that point but I gave it a try and I don't think I'll be using it.

Not to mention it was a little too much pressure on my eyes so when I moved it up so the pressure was on my head instead of my eyes it let even more light in.

I was disappointed, especially after all the good reviews.

Spring Valley - Valerian Root Extract, 100 Capsules

Heed the warnings. This will definitely make you drowsy and unable to do much of anything once it takes effect. Much of the Spring Valley stuff is considered sub-par in the pharmaceuticals department, but I can vouch for the Valerian Root that it is potent if you need to sleep.

Usually 15-30 minutes after taking it, you will feel your body relax a bit, your movements will get slower, and your heart rate dips as you begin to nod out.

I generally take it if I know I need to sleep but I'm too restless on my own. It smells like butt when you open it (no joke, it fills the room like someone just took off their socks) and the smell won't go away for three minutes, but it's worth the stench if you need some sleep.

Great sleep aid, however I would NOT take it during the daytime.

I do not use this product for sleep I use it for relaxing my nerves, and lessening the withdrawals from alcohol addiction. The directions say to take 3 before bedtime, I take 1 in times of intense stress and anxiety. I have recently undergone alcohol addiction recovery and can honestly say the pain of recovery is harsh, the mood swings, the physical pains, etc. I take this product to lessen my irritability and intense mood swings due to the withdrawal. I take it and don't feel anything magical...but then I realize I am calm, not angry, and way more level headed. It seems to work so seamlessly. I never write reviews but if anyone is in need of some calmness and would rather not go the RX method, or is fighting addiction I hope this has helped them.

First things first. This herb stinks.....literally. The good news: the more it stinks, the riper it is and is the best indicator that you have a good, solid Valerian product. Each day it is exposed even for a brief moment to oxygen, the stink gets worse. On Day 1 it is very, very mild. Smells like any other "supplement in a bottle" smell. By day 10, you can REALLY smell the Valerian....like some mildly worn sneakers. By Day 20, the smell of Valerian is akin to a monkey's crotch.

Valerian typically takes about two weeks of use to gain maximum potency in the body. I have found that Spring valley Valerian is a perfect amount of extract before bed. I DEFINITELY sleep soundly, deeply, and like a baby! Works like a charm, no doubt about it. Also a great relaxer in general.

I have used a variety of sleep aids and despite the manufacturer's claims for this product, I find that it doesn't work very well or any better than the many other sleep aid products out there. Do the ingredients make you drowsy? Yes, somewhat. But a main problem is that unless you have time released melatonin, which this product does not have, the melatonin is only effective and out of your system in a matter of a few hours or less. Ask any Doctor.

I took the product about 9:15 PM, fell asleep about 9:45 PM and was awake at 12:30 AM.

In order to get back to sleep I ended up taking 15 MG of time release melatonin and a Unisom Sleep Melt. So for me this product was useless.

This product is termed 'Extra Strength" because it contains 3mg of melatonin. But many folks take many, many times more than that amount of melatonin (time release) to help them get to sleep. So if you have very mild sleep issues this product might help. But if your sleep issues are more severe then pass this by.

Melatonin is great for insomnia. I have always been a nigt person, and just sid not get sleepy until after midnight. We have used this brand for years and it does a good job of bringing on sleepiness. I take 6-9 mg now when needed. I find that after taking, it's best to read in bed until you feel sleepy and then close your eyes right away. It does wear off after a short while.

One pill 30 minutes before bedtime, and you'll be happy. I'm a repeat long term customer and you should be one as well!

I felt this product was a good facial sunblock, but it wasn't what I hoped it would be. I was looking for a daily moisturizer that contains sunblock. This product smells like sunblock and acts like it too.

It's supposed to be a daily moisturizer and sunscreen (30 spf I think it was?), and it also has a light scent that I'm not really sure how to describe but smells nice! :D

The moisture makes my face feel very smooth and the sunscreen works good enough for me without feeling all thick and pancakey, I would know it works cause I burn easily but not with this stuff on and I have an oily face so it's hard to find stuff that isn't pancakey.

I love this moisturizer. I'm excited to have found a cheaper alternative to my Dermalogica Smoothing Cream which can get fairly expensive. As an added bonus, this product contains an SPF of 30, which my previous moisturizer didn't. Yes, there is a fragrance to it. It's a fresh/clean scent, which may bother some who are sensitive but I found it quite pleasant. It's a THICK moisturizer. I have combination/dry skin and it works well for me. I use less than half a pump (I'm assuming I use about a 1/3 to a 1/4 of a pump) for my face and the container is large so I'm sure it'll last a long time.
