Triple Strength Melatonin 10 mg 60 Caps

I use this product for occasional sleeplessness. About 20 minutes after taking it, I get quite sleepy, and can instantly fall asleep. The effect lasts perhaps 2-4 hours. Thus, if you have trouble falling asleep (not staying asleep), this product will help. I found it much more effective than the .3 mg, 3 mg, and 5 mg tablets. Melatonin is a hormone that is produced naturally in our bodies by the pineal gland. It has many functions, but perhaps the main function is to regulate the body wake/sleep cycle, thus, its use as an occassional sleep aid.

Because this is a large dose of Melatonin, it is always best to consult with your MD before using. Melatonin can interact with other body systems and medications. For this reason, I downloaded a precaution sheet from the University of Maryland on melatonin. (see below):

Precautions:

Some people may have vivid dreams or nightmares when they take melatonin. Taking too much melatonin may disrupt circadian rhythms (your "body clock").

Melatonin can cause drowsiness if taken during the day. If you are drowsy the morning after taking melatonin, try taking a lower dose.

Additional side effects include stomach cramps, dizziness, headache, irritability, decreased libido, breast enlargement in men (called gynecomastia), and decreased sperm count.

Pregnant or nursing women should not take melatonin because it could interfere with fertility.

Some studies show that melatonin supplements worsened symptoms of depression. For this reason, people with depression should consult their doctor before using melatonin supplements.

Although many researchers believe that melatonin levels go down with age, newer evidence has brought this theory into question. People older than 65 should ask their doctor before taking melatonin supplements, so blood levels of this hormone can be monitored.

Possible Medication Interactions:

If you are being treated with any of the following medications, you should not use melatonin without first discussing it with your health care provider.

Antidepressant medications -In an animal study, melatonin supplements reduced the antidepressant effects of desipramine and fluoxetine (Prozac). More research is needed to know if the same thing would happen in people. In addition, fluoxetine (a member of a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs) can cause low levels of melatonin in people.

Antipsychotic medications -A common side effect of antipsychotic medications used to treat schizophrenia is a condition called tardive dyskinesia, which causes involuntary movements. In a study of 22 people with schizophrenia and tardive dyskinesia caused by antipsychotic medications, those who took melatonin supplements had fewer symptoms compared to those who did not take the supplements.

Benzodiazepines -The combination of melatonin and triazolam (Halcion) improved sleep quality in one study. In addition, a few reports have suggested that melatonin supplements may help people stop using long-term benzodiazepine therapy. (Benzodiazepines are habit-forming.)

Blood pressure medications -Melatonin may make blood pressure medications like methoxamine (Vasoxyl) and clonidine (Catopres) less effective. In addition, medications in a class called calcium channel blockers may lower melatonin levels. Calcium channel blockers include:

*Nifedipine (Procardia)

*Amlodipine (Norvasc)

*Verapamil (Calan, Isoptin)

*Diltiazem (Cardizem)

*Felodipine (Plendil)

*Nisoldipine (Sular)

*Bepridil (Vascor)

Beta-blockers -Use of beta-blockers may lower melatonin levels in the body. Beta-blockers include:

*Acebutolol (Sectral)

*Atenolol (Tenormin)

*Bisoprolol (Zebeta)

*Carteolol (Cartrol)

*Metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL)

*Nadolol (Corgard)

*Propranolol (Inderal)

Blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants) -Melatonin may increase the risk of bleeding from anticoagulant medications such as warfarin (Coumadin).

Interleukin-2 -In one study of 80 cancer patients, use of melatonin along with interleukin-2 led to more tumor regression and better survival rates than treatment with interleukin-2 alone.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) -NSAIDs such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) may lower levels of melatonin in the blood.

Steroids and immunosuppressant medications -Melatonin may cause these medication to lose their effectiveness. Do not take melatonin with corticosteroids or other medications used to suppress the immune system.

Tamoxifen -Preliminary research suggests that the combination of tamoxifen (a chemotherapy drug) and melatonin may benefit some people with breast and other cancers. More research is needed to confirm these results.

I feel like I should be able to tell if this is helping or not as it's been a few weeks since I've been taking it. I'm taking it at the recommendation of a sleep therapist along with using a lightbox. If it's helping, it's not dramatic, though I've had slight improvement in my sleep. Since I started the light therapy and melatonin at the same time, it's hard to say what's made the slight improvement. I wish this was a magic bullet for me, but it's not. Neither are prescription sleeping pills, which I've tried and they didn't help at all. At least this is natural.

I have used eye pillows in yoga class before and I thought this would be similar. However, this one is so big that it doesn't seem to rest the weight directly on the eyes; instead the flax seeds mostly fall down to the ends of the eye pillow and the weight sits around my temples. It is also too wide, so it rests way down on my nose. Ideally this eye pillow's dimensions would be reduced by 25% in both length and width. I plan to fold over and sew one end of it to reduce the length to see if that will help.

The fragrance, while nice, is a bit too strong for sleeping or yoga relaxation. I actually found it to be quite stimulating instead of relaxing.

On the plus side, the materials of the eye pillow are really nice and soft.

In fact I used to have a problem with falling asleep, but using my eye pillow seems to trigger relaxation all over my body. I keep it by my bed for any time I need to rest. I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5 stars for several reasons. Although the fabric is very silky and perfect for an eye pillow (unlike some fabrics with raised designs in the fabric and a stiffer feel), the fabric is very fragile. When I was taking the eye pillow out of the package, the silk snagged on the velcro close. There is still a snag in the fabric unfortunately. Too bad. Also a piece of lavender twig poked through the fabric and I had to pull it out. It doesn't appear that there is a lining under the silk fabric, so the lavender and flax filling could poke through again and the fabric could snag easily on fingernails, etc. Other than that, the eye pillow is luxuriously silky and pretty in the two tones. The lavender scent is fairly heavy as compared with some eye pillows, so it may not appeal to all. For those who haven't tried an eye pillow, it is a wonderful getaway from light and the pressure on the eyes serves to promote restfulness and calm.

The scent started out too strong, but since it's a natural lavender it didn't bother my eyes like synthetic scents do. After a couple of months the scent is more subtle and now it's perfect. I love the slipper fabric it slips off my face too easily, but it's nice and cool against my skin. I like to flip it over after a while to put the cooler side against my skin. Very calming, night weight.

Clearasil Ultra Overnight Scrub, 5 Ounce

Those are two promises that this scrub makes, and after a couple of weeks I haven't seen those results. Actually, at this moment I seem to have acquired four large, red pimples in painfully obvious places, and that's not normal for me. (I don't think this scrub caused them, of course, but it doesn't seem to be helping the situation.)

I'm not a big fan of the fragrance, though at least it is very mild and it doesn't linger for too long.

The scrub is not greasy and not drying. It doesn't seem to be as good at exfoliating as other scrubs I've used. But the remarkable thing--and the reason I'll keep using it--is that this is the first 2% salicylic acid product I've used that hasn't left my face red and feeling burned. I don't have the promised improvement "overnight", but maybe over a bit more time it will make a difference.

Update 12/4/11: Five weeks is enough. I've seen no improvement, and in fact seem to be breaking out a bit more now than I was before. (I'm thinking of naming the flame-red lump on the tip of my nose "Bertha".) I'm done with this scrub, and it's back to soap and water for me.

I ordered this for my 14 year old son, who has developed some major breakouts on his forehead. Zippered Protective Mattress Cover size King 78" x 80"

I was very happy to be able to order an affordable plastic cover for my mattress. The problem is that it is very thin and Kevin put his thumb through it while trying to put it on. The last time I ordered one, it cost me three times as much and the zipper broke on it, so none of them are great, therefore, we are very happy with this one because it is affordable and aparently as good as the more expensive version. This Kava Stress Relief Tea from Yogi Tea is for anxiety relief. It's an unusual tea, slightly sweet (it contains stevia) and very carob-y. The good news is that it does not have any of the usual kava taste or smell that many people find offensive. The bad news is that I can't feel any of the anxiety relief effects of the tea, although it does say that there are 78mg of kava root extract in the tea. Still, it's a lovely cup of tea, and relaxing because it just tastes good. I can also taste the spiciness of the tea, which is very pleasant. I usually brew two bags in one cup, which is recommended on the package for a stronger and more relaxing effect; however, I even tried four bags once, but still didn't notice a relaxing effect. I am familiar with kava and the overall effect of kava is pretty subtle anyway, so this is something to be aware of. Your experience of the tea may be different.

Kava Stress Relief Tea comes with an expiration date (a good thing, because it's not full of preservatives, plus you can tell if it is fresh) and has many organic ingredients.

The ingredients in Kava Stress Relief Tea are: kava root extract, carob pod, Indian sarsaparilla root, organic cinnamon bark, organic ginger root, organic cardamom seed, stevia leaf, barley malt, natural hazelnut flavor, natural cinnamon flavor, and natural licorice flavor. Note that the media scare about kava several years ago was not for the kava root, and it is my opinion that based on my own research that kava is very safe. However, I am not a physician, and if you have any health concerns, you should check with an appropriate professional.

I decided to give Kava Stress Relief Tea four stars since it didn't really work for me. Still, it is a wonderful and recommended tea, and may work for you!

They fit snug in both ears (my ear canals are a little different from each other), they block out all unnecessary sound and they last longer than any other type, with the exception of silicone.

I have used these while sleeping next to a train station, on airplanes, inside of trains, and next to snoring people. They block out most of the damaging noise from power saws, belt sanders, etc. I cannot recommend these highly enough.

It won't knock you out like certain drugs can, but if it's dark and quiet, you will definitely fall asleep with this stuff within 30 minutes, just make sure you don't swallow any of it; just dissolve under your tongue completely.

A warning though: a few of the times it didn't work, I would take another tablet, this however, caused me to feel very nauseous for a couple hours. Not sure if they're related, but I did experience it enough times to correlate the nausea to the tablets. Note though that I have never felt nauseous while taking one tablet a night.

For those who still wake up in the middle of the night while taking these, take some Magnesium as well. The Melatonin helps you fall asleep while the Magnesium keeps you asleep during the night.

By the way, these things actually taste good!

I've tried one other brand of Melatonin and it didn't work for me. This brand is very good and it also has a pleasant orange flavor. Follow directions as stated on the bottle.

As someone who suffers from insomnia, it is always a relief to find a product to help get some sleep now and again. When I took the older, non sublingual version of this melatonin it didn't help me one bit. For some reason, the sublingual (taken under the tongue) product seems to work rather well.

Honestly, I guess everyone is different. I read the previous reviewers that said this is a scam and I just don't get it! I LOVE this product!!! I have had to take prescription meds off and on for years as I have chronic sleeping issues. I just can't get my brain to shut off at night. I will be really tired but not fall asleep. All the ingredients are natural and your body already produces the melatonin so you aren't putting dangerous chemicals in your body. Anyway, I will agree that taking 4 HUGE pills is a drag and they smell and taste HORRIBLE; however, it is well worth it because after about 15-30 minutes I am sleeping like a baby! I just take all four at one time with a big gulp of water and then drink more water to wash the taste out of my mouth. I want to make it known that I don't work for this company, sell this product, or have any interest in its sales. I just want to give you a honest and forthright review. I truly haven't found another product, natural or prescription, that works as well as these do. I always have trouble sleepingI am a very light sleeper. I find this product to be ineffective, but I have to admit that I am not taking the full dose of 4 tablets. I am taking 3 tabs which I thought should be sufficient. The reason for not taking all 4: the tabs are huge and it makes me gag. Also it has a very strong, unpleasant smell which makes it worse.
